PHOENIX (AP) - Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer has signed three bills for 11 new special license plates, including one to commemorate the tea party.
She acted on the license plate bills late Thursday.
The tea party plate would feature the "Don't Treat On Me" slogan, rattlesnake emblem and yellow background of the historic Gadsden Flag that is a symbol of the movement.
The Legislature completed action April 26 on the bill authorizing the tea party plate.
In the run-up to approval, opponents said the tag inappropriately promotes a specific political movement. Supporters said it's meant to stand up for constitutional principles.
Supporters now must raise $32,000 to design and produce the plate.

The Gadsden flag is a historical American flag with a yellow field depicting a rattlesnake coiled and ready to strike. Positioned below the snake is the legend "DONT TREAD ON ME." The flag was designed by and is named after American general and statesman Christopher Gadsden. It was also used by the United States Marine Corps as an early motto flag.
Considered one of the first flags of the United States, the flag was later replaced by the current Stars and Stripes (or Old Glory) flag. Since the Revolution, the flag has seen times of reintroduction as a symbol of American patriotism, a symbol of disagreement with government, or a symbol of support for civil liberties.
Beginning in 2009, the Gadsden Flag has become an adopted symbol of the American Tea Party movement.[8][9] Nationwide it serves as an alternative to the stars and stripes[10] for Tea Party protesters who feel patriotism for their country and are upset at the government.[11] It was also seen being displayed by members of Congress at Tea Party rallies.[12] Some lawmakers have dubbed it a political symbol due to the Tea Party connection,[10] and the political nature of Tea Party supporters.

Thank you Gov. Brewer, and the people of the great state of Arizona for recognizing the Tea Party Movement. Liberals hate the Tea Party. Americans love the Tea Party Movement, because the Tea Party is the voice of the American people. Our core values are "Fiscal Responsibility, Constitutionally Limited Government, and Free Markets. Our voices are getting louder, and America is listening. I can't wait for 2012. Politicians who work for themselves instead of the American people, irregaurdless of political affiliation, needs to be voted out of office.

Tea Party Patriots, Inc. is a non-partisan grassroots organization of individuals united by our core values derived from the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution of the United States of America, the Bill Of Rights as explained in the Federalist Papers. We recognize and support the strength of grassroots organization powered by activism and civic responsibility at a local level. We hold that the United States is a republic conceived by its architects as a nation whose people were granted "unalienable rights" by our Creator. Chiefly among these are the rights to "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." The Tea Party Patriots stand with our founders, as heirs to the republic, to claim our rights and duties which preserve their legacy and our own. We hold, as did the founders, that there exists an inherent benefit to our country when private property and prosperity are secured by natural law and the rights of the individual. As an organization we do not take stances on social issues. We urge members to engage fully on the social issues they consider important and aligned with their beliefs.
