Ruy Teixeira co-wrote an influential book with John Judis 20 years ago called "The Emerging Democratic Majority." It seemed to presage Barack Obama's election as president in 2008 and argued that demographic changes in America and the growth of Hispanic voters and other groups would make Democrats the majority in America in the 21st century. Now he's not so sure. In a series of interviews and posts, Mr. Teixeira has told Democrats that more voters of color - and we'll ask him how he feels about that phrase - are supporting Republicans. Ruy Teixeira joins us now.

TEIXEIRA: Well, what I see happening - you mentioned my book with John Judis. We stipulated in that book that you needed a core level of white working-class support, since white noncollege voters are still such a large share of the population. Now, as it turned out, over time, we did see white working-class voters continue to move away from the Democrats. In some ways, Obama's 2008 election was a high point. Ever since then, they've been bleeding white working-class voters. That's really why Trump got elected.

It's very telling that white working class people turned out in the strongest numbers ever for Barack Obama, but those numbers declined sharply when the Dems ran and old white woman and then a very old white man. Lends the lie to the idea that working class whites support Trump because they are racist. Not that the left ever really believed that.

It isn't just working class whites that the Dems are losing. They may well get the votes of those illegal aliens they are letting flood in, but they will have to wait until they are eligible for citizenship, since the Dems would never cheat or since cheating is non-existent, or whatever. But right now their fanatical pro-abortion stance, combined with bringing in hundreds of thousands of low-skilled workers to compete for entry-level jobs is losing the votes of working class Hispanics and Blacks, as well as whites.

I have to wonder, who the Democratic Party strategists think their base is? Do they think they can win, by only appealing to liberal college professors and gender dysphorics who want kids involved with their disorder? That's a pretty narrow appeal, isn't it?

Yes, and of course they will vote illegally, with the help of the Democrats. I think there are two big things going on here. One, Hispanics are on the rise. Hispanics are mostly Catholic and Catholics are against abortion. And Hispanics are terrified of socialism. And, they don't like paying higher prices for things. Two, blacks are waking up more and more to the fact that democrats are always buying their votes and then not coming through for them. And, blacks are seeing that progressive policies are making them pay more for goods and services. Democrats complain about income inequality getting worse and worse but seem to have no clue that it also gets worse and worse under their policies.

When the government provides everything, everyone gets the same substandard garbage. When capitalism is practiced, people aspire to have nicer things and work hard for that which leads ambitious people to provide better products for better prices. People with no ambition will want those things and envy will set in of course, but that is far more preferable than everyone having to live with garbage.

Good point. The other day, I was in my local bow-dee-guh buying some breakfast tacos, and I couldn't even understand most of what they were saying.

I found this funny:

TEIXEIRA: Look, I mean, voters of color don't talk about voters of color. Who the hell lives in communities of color? The people I know live in neighborhoods, right? So there's this whole, you know, sort of rhetorical lexicon that the left of the Democratic Party has become obsessed with and insists on using, which basically just alienates normie voters, including normie nonwhite voters. I mean, we have people in and around the Democratic Party talking about how all white people have white privilege and how this is a white supremacist society and so on. And I just don't think this is the way people think about the world, including, you know, normie nonwhite voters.

Teixeira is an unusual liberal, being able to question something the Democrats are doing. But, he is still a liberal. He calls some voters "normie" voters. I assume he means people who fit in with the norm. He could have said "norm-ish," or "norm-following," or "non-norm violating." Anything but "normal" is the correct word, but which is a word that liberals detest for obvious reasons.

He's right about that stupid liberal lexicon, though. I just don't know if he gets that he is using that himself.

Latino-Americans don't want trannies to be recognized as women, and they don't want millions of babies aborted. Blacks don't want to lose their jobs to illegal aliens. Neither do Latinos, for that matter.

White people who are struggling to buy gasoline to drive to work, and whose paychecks no longer allow them to treat their wives to a nice dinner once a month, don't want to be lectured by media and political elites on how privileged they are.
