Hey,maybe people shouldn't count on Government to make or break them? How bout it? That's why Socialism/Communism doesn't work in the end. You can't always sit around whining & complaining about the Government keeping you down. You instead have to get up off your couch and go get it for yourself. Relying on the Government for everything only breeds resentment & failure in the end. This is why our nation needs to stay away from more Socialism. We should be promoting self-reliance instead. If you're sitting around waiting for a Government to make you a success,you're surely doomed to failure. Governments are often quite corrupt & inefficient. 'We call on the government of Iran to allow the Iranian people the universal right to peacefully assemble, demonstrate, and communicate that's being exercised in Cairo.'

Should Iran, Syria, Yemen and Jordan follow in the footsteps of Tunisia and Egypt, this world will stand at the edge of an awakening never seen before.

Saudi seems like a real stretch.

I don't think there's the same degree of mass support for change in the Kingdom that we saw in Tunisia and Egypt and currently observe in Iran.

Even if millions of Saudis began demonstrating against their government, I don't believe the Empire could or would indulge that revolution.

That really could Change Everything faster than anyone could anticipate.

ed... I started posting about FLUSHING around Thanksgiving of 2010 on the Nation Discussion site. The first thread I started at USMB delt with the mass purge of Republicans and Democrats from DC in 2010. (guess not!)

The idea has zero traction at this point, yet it's clear others have seen the same problem before I did. Huey Long, for example, in the 1930s looked at DC and saw a restaurant that served only one dish.

Republican waiters line one wall.
Democrat waiters wait along the opposite.
But whichever party delivers your order, all the grub comes from Wall Street's kitchen.

Maybe I have underestimated the power of hating.

If so, it's because of the potential for mass violence that an enraged US electorate possesses. Should the US economy in 2012 look suspiciously like the economy of 2008 then perhaps the vaunted US memory hole won't be able to save the status quo.

Particularly if there's a 21st Century Huey Long around. (Alan Grayson?)

Recent events in Egypt have shown me once again that the new technology can bring about Change much faster than most of us can think through the implications of its consequences.

Maybe one day those consequences will include FLUSHING 100 or 200 or more Republicans AND Democrats from DC on the same damn day?

It forces Citizens to rely on the Government for everything. Citizens become slaves begging their Master for handouts. Self-Reliance really is the answer in the end. People need to stop blaming and begging their Government for everything. You want to be a Winner? Get out there and make it happen. Don't blame the Government for all your failures and stop begging for scraps. More Government in your life is not the answer. Take control of your own life and become a Winner. Losers will always blame others for them being Losers. This is the way it is and always has been. Usually it's the Government they blame the most for them being Losers. Hence,they begin a lifelong habit of begging the Government for handouts. They both blame & beg the Government for everything throughout their entire lives. This is what Socialism/Communism encourages. They become willing slaves who will always be Losers. You hate being a Loser? You hate the Rich? Solutions: Stop being a Loser and get Rich yourself.
