Not exactly. The Blue Wall is based on economic rents that mostly disappeared roughly 60 years ago in 1959 when the Seaway was completed bypassing the Erie and Michigan-Illinois canals. Since that time the industrial mid-west and greater NY have been in decline. With the left coast the opening of the Panama canal made it possible to ship agricultural goods like Lumber to the east. As a mostly temperate rain forest north of San Francisco they can still produce lumber cheaper than nearly any place in the world. The big problem with the left coast today is land mismanagement due to the spread of the AGW cult.
