How much death has to be caused by these systems before people understand they dont work?

Yes many are. Not all but many. Many love the idea of their Nanny State but in the end they're only creating an oppressive Police State. We're already moving in that direction. It's sad.

Many more people are ignorant of how many deaths are caused by religious fanatics.

As someone who spent a career in law enforcement, recruited, hired, trained and disciplined LEO's I must say you're full of shit.

How is that relavent. Communism over the last 90 years has been a system defined by incompetence and mass murder. The question is, how many people have to die to show it won't work. Religion is not part of the question.

It can be a different question, but it is not relavent to this discussion.

Are you saying you don't see that we're becoming an oppressive Police State? I find that pretty hard to fathom. Just look around. The TSA is now on our highways setting up checkpoints. Man,don't we have enough law enforcement on our highways already? My God,how many agencies are out there policing? Yet now we suddenly need TSA checkpoints too? I'm sorry, but the Police State grows stronger by the day. You don't want to see it,that's fine with me. But it is happening.

    I agree. I'm glad we're not a socialist country.

    Some of them, certainly.

Funny, I thought those deaths were because those countries were undergoing years of war and civil war before the commies took over.

How many people died in our own civil war, and in the violence that followed it?

Communism and Capitalism have one thing in common. They both sound great on paper. and they both tend to really get screwed up when human beings are involved. We tend to find the way to screw up just about anything.

Yep. And we never will be one and there is no common desire to be one.

Many people mix up social programs with communism when they are nothing of the sort.

The present Administration obviously wants to take us in the direction of European socialism...what I marvel at is how oblivious they are to the state of Europe after several generations of socialism. It hasn't worked for THEM and yet Obama and progressives want US to go that same route which makes no sense at all.

The answer to your thread topic question, unfortuantely, is yes. Many people in life never come to the understanding that life comes down to two choices: suck and suckier. Instead, they see life as all choices being a zero sum game. This is why you have conservatives and liberals.

Socialism fcukks ALL people. Capitalism fcukks some people.

Who cant think on the margin??

    Yes, and they're proud Democrats.

The Communists made the takeover of the Dems one of their goals and they can wave the "Mission Accomplished" flag. And because they did it without spiking the ball the Dems who have nor fled the Party in horror still haven't figured out why there's no longer any difference between the Communist Party website and the DNC's.

Stalin with absolute control, no civil war murdered about 20 million of his own people. Revisionist history to clean up and blame others for the deaths caused by Communism won't fly just yet. Wait till your commy professors brain wash a couple more generations of gullible fools.

Taking care of the old and the sick is not "communism."

Spending government money on education, healthcare, research, and infrastructure is what drives an economy.

It is not and has never been the responsibility for the Federal Government to do that. Infrastructure is limited to specific things as is research. The rest is State responsibility.

    Read the fucking Constitution.

Liberals and democrats have an intense need to throw reality out the window and embrace socialisim and/or communisim because of the glittery promises. Take from the rich, give to the poor, everyone gets a nice house, a nice new car, lots of money, never has to work again. Everything is free because the nice powerful government made the rich give it up. Easy street forever more. The juvenile mind laps this up. They think themselves not at all greedy by wanting others to fulfill their wishes. It's FAIR. Why should someone else have more than they do. It's not FAIR.

They are wrong in many respects. Not the least of which is trusting the government to keep being fair when the government has all that power and wealth. The next is, once the weath is taken from the rich and redistributed, where is more wealth going to come from? This is what Margaret Thatcher meant when she said that the trouble with socialisim is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Do you see a difference between building a highway to benefit several states and paying someone $20.00 an hour not to work?
