The US national news reported that this was all the result of a gunfight between two groups of men at the club. The dead guy was apparently shot fatally whereas the other victims were not. Some of the shooters -- the ones who started the shooting -- got away.

Guns are not allowed in the club and there is metal detector security at the doors, but several of the patrons managed to get guns in anyway.

Note that the survivability from a pistol shot is about 80%.
