Affordable Care Act...if that were true, you would think no one, not one man, woman, or child, would require charity medical care. If Obamacare were so affordable, why is it mandated, even to the point of punishing those who cannot afford it? People should be flocking to the insurance exchanges, grateful for this unprecedented opportunity to have low-cost health care.

Hospital systems around the country have started scaling back financial assistance for lower- and middle-income people without health insurance, hoping to push them into signing up for coverage through the new online marketplaces created under the Affordable Care Act.

The trend is troubling to advocates for the uninsured, who say raising fees will inevitably cause some to skip care rather than buy insurance that they consider unaffordable. Hospitals actually have begun "syncing" financial treatment for self-pay and Medicaid. As more are signing up for Medicaid and less into self-pay, maintaining a self-pay financial class has become burdensome to maintain and calculate, not to mention it distorts both financial class' earnings...

In short, self pay is substantially shrinking and Medicaid growing...
