Sharia [Islamic] Law: Honor Killing Children And Grandchildren BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- A man who shot dead a female relative in a Gaza hospital is claiming the murder was to preserve "family honor" to reduce his punishment, a rights group said Monday. Gaza-based Al-Mezan Center for Human Rights says the suspected killer employed the so-called honor motivation to "escape judicial punishment." According to Al-Mezan the victim, identified as K.K., was admitted to Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis on Thursday night in a critical condition after having swallowed herbicide. She was registered by the hospital as having attempted suicide, the rights group said. At 1.30 a.m. Friday the relative entered the hospital and asked about her condition. When the doctor said she was improving, he threatened hospital staff with a handgun and shot the patient in the head, killing her.
