Case 0435 died more than a mile from the nearest road, with an unscuffed MacGregor baseball in his backpack.

Case 0469 was found with a bracelet, a simple green ribbon tied in a knot.

Case 0519 carried Psalms and Revelation, torn from a Spanish Bible.

212 bodies, mostly unidentified at the Texas State University Morgue. They died, not from earthquake, flood, or some other natural event. Nor were they shot or killed in an otherwise unusual manner.

Most died from dehydration, heatstroke, or hypothermia.

And, of course, hard immigration policies and uncaring Republicans are responsible for those deaths.

The truth?

Life is so miserable south of the border due to corrupt politicians that they face the dangers so they can send money back home to their impoverished families.

Oh Silvio, perhaps if we didn't have race warriors like you trying to use our virtue as a weapon against us, perhaps if we didn't compassionately provide housing, food stamps, medical care, and education for their oodles of kids once they got here, perhaps they wouldn't try to get here. If we met them at the border with a gun, gave it to them, turned them around and said, now, go take care of those corrupt politicians, they would fix their own countries and stay out of ours. Our current immigration policy is the moral equivalent of leaving a fat wallet on the front seat of an unlocked car in a poor neighborhood and booby-trapping the door handle.
