American citizens of all political philosophies can take back control of their government without violence or even a major protest.

What I'm proposing is that we stop voting for representatives that don't represent us. We believe if we vote for a rep with opinions similar to ours, that means he/she is representing us. In reality, that rep is still representing his/her own political opinions, not ours.
The problem is no one will follow this because they all fall for the 'lesser-of-two-evils' scam. They'll vote for a candidate who doesn't represent them because they're afraid of some other candidate, and the two party nonsense tells them they can't vote for anyone else. And they believe it.

That's why I believe it's important to vote for reps that are actually capable of representing us instead of representing a political party. I'm not saying it will be easy. I'm just saying I don't believe there is any other way.

Offline until tomorrow.

That's kewl

12 year olds go to bed early.

How do you know how "most voters" think?
Because not too many pay any attention to politics until right before the election. In 2020, we had a record turnout of voters, 67%. In some countries, bullets wouldn't stop people from voting, in our country, a rain shower or the threat of standing in line for 20 minutes is enough for people to not vote. The ones that do don't seem to have a real grasp of the situation. Looking at 2020, far too many voted "Orange Man Bad" with no real comprehension of whether Orange Man was a competent president compared to the Tater they voted for.

Are you 12?
Most of your posts here are significantly off like this one. You really should be more careful. And, yes, I know your response will be along the lines "I know you are but what am I?" I generally ignore your posts because they are completely lacking in substance. I responded to this one for the sole purpose of keeping this thread on the front burner a little bit longer.

I'll help

There are more than half a dozen political parties besides the GOP and the Dems. Bernie Sanders is a freaking socialist and there are congress people who are independents. It's possible to get better candidates in the major parties if you work at it but the best (only) way to insure a sane government is in the voting booth.

What I don't want are representatives representing themselves, their doners, or their political parties. Right now they all appear to be doing that. That has to be our fault because we are the ones that elect them.

Third parties need to expand past single issues. Libertarians would get a lot more support if they could shake the impression that all they care about is legalizing pot.

Exactly. Nothing will change if we keep giving them our votes.
That's why we need to take a closer look at the reasons we vote for representatives. We need to accept the difficult reality that the reasons we elect those people have always been wrong. It's a very difficult concept for most people to grasp because we've been doing it the same way for so long.

Sure, that's a given. People these days are voting primarily on the culture war nonsense.

Compromise in DC is bullshit. BI partisan bills take away more rights than one sided ones.
I read that Gheatz (spelling?) and AOC are working on a bill together to address congress people and stock investments...so maybe their is hope?

Gheatz even said AOC is wrong a lot but not corrupt. High praise from him to AOC I think.
