Revealed: inside story of US envoy's assassination - World Politics - World - The Independent

Still want Hillary and Co. to pick up that 3 AM phone call? Be sure to read the comments.

"The killings of the US ambassador to Libya and three of his staff were likely to have been the result of a serious and continuing security breach, The Independent can reveal.

American officials believe the attack was planned, but Chris Stevens had been back in the country only a short while and the details of his visit to Benghazi, where he and his staff died, were meant to be confidential.

"The US administration is now facing a crisis in Libya. Sensitive documents have gone missing from the consulate in Benghazi and the supposedly secret location of the "safe house" in the city, where the staff had retreated, came under sustained mortar attack. Other such refuges across the country are no longer deemed "safe".

"Senior officials are increasingly convinced, however, that the ferocious nature of the Benghazi attack, in which rocket-propelled grenades were used, indicated it was not the result of spontaneous anger due to the video, called Innocence of Muslims. Patrick Kennedy, Under-Secretary at the State Department, said he was convinced the assault was planned due to its extensive nature and the proliferation of weapons."

This will turn out to be as much of a lie from you as your thread claiming the ambassador's corpse was paraded through the streets.

Either way, this is a colossal mess. Obviously security should have been better. Someone has to be held accountable. And that someone includes our President. This is his awful illegitimate War.

This War was an awful scam right from the start. Just payback to the Euros to get that Libyan Oil. We owed them. Our own President knew it was scam and that's why he didn't bother to seek Congressional approval. This is a very sad and completely unnecessary tragedy.

State Department Denies Having Advanced Warning of an Attack

Amid the belief that the attack in Benghazi was the work of premeditated terrorists, there's a report from the British newspaper The Independent saying the State Department had advance warning of an attack and decided not to do anything. A Department rep. called it "absolutely wrong."

The Independent reports the State Department knew about a potential threat on American diplomatic missions a full two days before anything happened but opted not to do anything:

Shawn Turner, spokesman for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, emailed: “This is absolutely wrong. We are not aware of any actionable intelligence indicating that an attack on the U.S. Mission in Benghazi was planned or imminent.”

I have an idea...let's give them military support and weaponry and $millions and $millions and $millions of our tax dollars.......oh wait....

Well if a government official told us they weren't aware of intelligence indicating an attack, then it must be true. Government officials NEVER lie.

Well... let's run with the Independent's claim, OK? Now, tell me what possible reason would the State Department have to not warn personnel in Libya, if they had any actionable intelligence indicating that an attack on the U.S. Mission in Benghazi was planned or imminent?

Take you time...

.

Perhaps we could start by deciding (1) not to stick our fucking nose in the affairs of other sovereign countries, (2) to stop thinking that foreign lands are nothing more than big, sandy parking lots for our tanks, and (3) to stop considering ourselves the self-appointed Policeman Of The World Who Can Blow The Shit Out Of Other Countries When We're Pissed.

Aw, just kidding, we're "exceptional" and all, the rules of civilization don't apply to us.

I agree.

And we must face the fact that the United States is neither omnipotent or omniscient - that we are only six percent of the world's population - that we cannot impose our will upon the other ninety-four percent of mankind - that we cannot right every wrong or reverse each adversity - and that therefore there cannot be an American solution to every world problem.”
President John F. Kennedy

It seems that something is amiss, we are now seeing numerous reports that intelligence knew of an imminent attack 48 hours before and no added security precautions were made.

Nothing is 'amiss'... you are now seeing the right wing echo chamber go into overdrive. They are taking the single source LIE and spreading it.

You did not answer my question...WHY???
