Biden’s DOJ is suing SpaceX for not hiring enough refugees and asylum seekers.
“The lawsuit alleges that, from at least September 2018 to May 2022, SpaceX routinely discouraged asylees and refugees from applying and refused to hire or consider them, because of their citizenship status, in violation of the Immigration and Nationality Act,” the Justice Department said.
“Our investigation found that SpaceX failed to fairly consider or hire asylees and refugees because of their citizenship status and imposed what amounted to a ban on their hire regardless of their qualification, in violation of federal law,” US Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke said.
First, it’s hard to believe that an Afghanistan refugee has any skill to offer SpaceX.
Second, ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) prevents all non US citizens from seeing anything SpaceX is doing, planning, or even what parts look like. You can’t even have an unescorted non US citizen in your facility without violating Federal law and going to prison.
(When I worked in Aerospace for a large company some dumbass execs tried to save a few bucks and layed off our IT departments and have all our IT done remotely from another country. They never consulted our legal folks, and it really hit the fan with the layoffs. Only US citizens could access my computer. Legal shutdown the offshore IT and the execs had to rehire our IT folks. Oops! Sorry about that!)
So Elon is basically being sued for complying with Federal law.
This is just another case of Biden’s rogue SS DOJ playing political games.
