A teen party Friday night in Chester that ended with two dead and nine injured amid a spray of gunfire left neighbors to bemoan the escalating violence in this poverty-ravaged Delaware County city.
"The city's becoming a war zone," James Johnson said Saturday. For 20 years, he has lived across the street from the scene of the shootings, Minaret Temple No. 174, a Masonic hall at West Fourth and Ward Streets.
The hall had been rented for a party Friday and was packed with teenagers and young adults when someone opened fire about 11:30 p.m.
Butler said word of the party apparently spread on Facebook, attracting teenagers from Philadelphia and Salem, N.J.
