A sensible conservative

I'm a libertarian -LP member even- and haven't voted for a single republican, including Scott Walker, since 1994.

I find it interesting, though, that leftbats like now you believe that the very people y'all hated on for the entire eight years of the Chimpola regime are now suddenly the smartest people in the party.

I don't, but i do read and take in what they say and weigh it out with everything else.

But then i am not you
Yeah, right.

Your idea of "sensibility" is capitulation and immolation.

The Democrat Party has become the party of the abusive trailer trash redneck wife beater.

ah so you have nothing left but assumption huh closet gay.

What I have is the same old story I've been hearing for the last 2 out of 3 election cycles..."Reasonable" and "sensible" basically means to become democratics with (R)s by your names....It means SUBMIT, BITCH!

thats nice, but that's not my opinion. So from now on should i just say your opinion is like Stephanie?

I can.

Sure it's not your opinion.

Of course it isn't his opinion. It's your opinion of his opinion. Let him speak for himself, instead of putting words in peoples' mouths all the time. Most of the time it's just outright dishonesty.

I wasn't defining it. The author of the article, a self-professed conservative, was. Apparently these days you have have to pass some sort of ideological purity test first. Big Tent, my ass!

May I be more direct?
What is the meaning of 'conservative'?

Could I be more obvious, it's not for me to say. It's for self-professed conservatives to say. Reread the article for your answer. I'll tell you what I believe, it's up to conservatives to say what conservatism is. My only opinion on the matter is that it's counter-productive to insist on some sort of ideological purity, if the party ever hopes to win a national election again.

You do realize what you just said is ignorant and completely false right? A word or belief or political system has a defined definition. It may have several means but they are all defined. And no just cause Joe Schmuck says he is a conservative does not make it true.

Kinda like when ever we do a poll here on who is Conservative, moderate and liberal and 7/10ths of the Liberals all claim they are Moderate. Just cause they say it does not make it true.

I been listening to his opinions since our days on another forum, which will remain unnamed.

It's the same thing over and over..."Reasonable" means adopt leftist positions.

SSDD.

You're getting really boring, too. The problem is, you never really say anything.

Look who's talking.

"The United States did not vote for socialism. It could not do so, because neither party offers socialism. Both parties champion a free enterprise economy cushioned by a certain amount of social insurance. The Democrats (mostly) want more social insurance, the Republicans want less. National politics is a contest to move the line of scrimmage, in a game where there's no such thing as a forward pass, only a straight charge ahead at the defensive line. To gain three yards is a big play."

You'd appear so much more perceptive if you'd stick to words that you can actually define.

'Conservative' comes to mind.

I wasn't defining it. The author of the article, a self-professed conservative, was. Apparently these days you have have to pass some sort of ideological purity test first. Big Tent, my ass!

Right because you folks are the big tent party? You really seriously don't claim that mantle anymore do you?

I keep waiting for conservatives to join the fact-based world where rationality is valued as a sign of the necessary qualifications that people must have to be in positions of responsibility where serious decisions are made because that's infinitely preferable to a world where irrational fears rule the hearts of men.

I just don't ever see a time on the horizon when that wait will end because, simply put, exploiting the irrational fears of others is too profitable and endeavor for many people to every give it up.

The only people that find Frum remotely "conservative" (whatever the hell that's supposed to mean anymore) are the lolberal lamestream media Boiking pompom wavers, like those at the Comrade News Network.

But thanks for the good lulz.

How'd the Libertarians make out this cycle? Looks like their support is waning.

Yes we have and over there you where making excuses for bush left and right till you up and left,or banned because they retards over there.

I've expressed my opinion plenty of times, you and other choose to ignore it.

I've had you pegged for awhile now oddball. You are not a libertarian, you just play one slightly on the net.

But ill play your game...name an issue and ill give you my stance on it....

This is retarded.

The Right likes to delude itself that if ... if ... if ONLY the Presidential candidate would be more conservative, then all those millions and millions of conservatives who didn't vote would, then they'd have a "real" conservative, all the while driving everyone out of the small tent because they don't march lockstep with the orthodoxy.

Good idea, if you think California is the model to follow for the national GOP.

But make sure you blame your failure on the "lamestream media."

Um...I don't know if you noticed, but the GOP nominated "moderates" (read: establishment neocons) the last two cycles and they lost.

And just because patent medicine hawkers like Frum, Brooks and Scarborough live with their heads jammed up the asses of their corporate media masters, that doesn't automatically qualify them as "sensible".

If anyone here is playing the game of "be reasonable, do it my way" here, it's the left....As though they're honestly interested in republicans winning in the first place.
