A Moral Question on UHC

Conservative political ideals are uniformly and without exception personally involved with human life and welfare.

You can't be serious. A Short History of Conservative Obstruction to Progress | Conceptual Guerilla Was Iraq an example. Or Reagan with AIDS. Cons have always opposed human progress.

As far as the arguments go, this piece is excellent. From around minute 12 or so the Mass and national systems are reviewed.

The other primary difference between many leftists and most of those on the right is the ability to distinguish between rhetoric and action. To believe there are more problems with the Federal government doing something than the problem being addressed in another way is not synonymous with not wanting to address the problem at all.

Those evil conservatives, far more the leftists, are doing hands on work in the trenches with AIDS patients, lepers, the poor, homeless, hungry, down and out. And not only are they hands on in helping others, they, much more than leftists, are funding relief organizations such as Church World Service and World Vision who can get food, clothing, and medicine to people that government people cannot. Government monies sent to Peru to help the disabled for instance generally winds up mostly swallowed up in the bureaucracy just as much relief monies here in the USA do. But when we send teams to Peru to distribute walkers and wheelchairs and fit people for braces, etc. ALL the aid gets directly to the people.

Do not think that because big government is not seen as an efficient or effective vehicle of compassion that the conservatives lack compassion.

Reagan with AIDS? C'mon... In the 80's, the understanding of AIDS was microscopic. During his administration, funding for AIDS research and care rose from about 5 million to a little under a billion. Keep in mind that in those days, a billion was real money.

Do you never tire of ignoring history?
