6 month Congressional Report Card

Okay, this topic is very simple.

The GOP has the majority in the House and Senate.

How would you rate Capitol Hill for February-June?

Hard to rate them considering they really haven't done much. Oh wait, that's pretty much what they've been doing for the past 6 1/2 years.

They managed to stymie most of Obama's agenda. That's a win-win for America.
You mean like when they handed him the trade bill he wanted? The one thing they've accompliahed since their "landslide" win?

Now the Republican Party is just as socialist as Obama since they supported that bill. I mean I'm thinking most of them should now be considered Communists. Isn't this great? Americans voted in a bunch of Communists into our Congress. Communists are now leading us. We are most definitely doomed. Something must be done before these Republican Communists completely destroy our great country.

What do you think Obama's agenda is? And why should it be stymied?
His agenda is to remake America.
To look like the Soviet Union c.1925.

There is absolutely no thought in that response.

Thanks. I wanted to make sure you could understand it.

Part of what I tried to find were accomplishments, in the "work completed" category, and as a sub category..."things that make the lives of Americans better" category.

I was really hoping to hear some of the conservatives reassure me about Capitol Hill, and point some out I was unaware of.

I'm hearing the idea of "doing nothing" justified. If that were beneficial we might as well save some money and not have a Congress.

I'm beginning to believe we should have two congresses, two judiciaries, two cabinets, and two presidents........and each state should decide which one they want to have manage their federal issues.

The conservatives could get things done for states that want that, and liberals could get things done for states that want that.

Then we wouldn't have Congresses that spend all their time preventing anything good from happening, because it might make the other guys look good.

Actually, they haven't. That's why all self-proclaimed Conservatives nationwide have been enduring fits and convulsions lo these past few weeks. Obama has been WINNING!

Really? What have they prevented him from doing?
Additonal useless infrasucture spending. Carbon tax. Additional gun control laws. Making himself president for life. That sort of thing.

Or we could just go back to ACTUAL FEDERALISM and stop punting everything up to the top level of government.

There is a big empty spot in politics today, and I find myself in the middle of it.

I completed that political orientation grid analysis that was going around, and it put me right in the center, but leaning conservative a hair. That merely confirmed what I knew, if I accept the results as accurate. But what I am now learning, is that the closer you get to the center, the further you get from most people these days.

It's not a new thing for political strategists to cultivate hatred of the other side, because it motivates people to vote for their side. What I find alarming is that the trend towards self identifying as "Independent", an in practice just voting for the same people you claim to no longer depend on.

So few of us seem to have a mixed platform, and simply buy into the agenda of one party.

This Congress may actually end up getting some stuff done. Obama is a moderate who wants to do things like sign trade deals and change the corp tax code. The trade deal seems to be well on its way which makes the corp tax change next. I believe they are tying it into a transportation bill too which will be good.

I would guess that a Dem President and a Republican Congress will get more done than a split Congress.
