40 years, a trillion dollars, zero results.

Solve the border issues if you want to eliminate drug trafficking.
And human trafficking, as far as that goes.

gimme a break. they busted a bunch of freebooters that tried to move a load without greasing the palms of the narco squad.

happens all the time. pay the bribes and the shit flows all the way to the end users.

I suppose if we had the same sort of government that they have in China, it just might. I'd rather live in a free country, though, even if the government isn't able to solve the drug problem.

deflection.
There isn't the will in this country to do what it will take to eliminate the problem. Start executing people and you'll see changes.
Criminals are deterred by two things:
How likely are they to get caught?
What will happen to them if they do?

Make the odds of both of those unacceptably high to them and they'll change.

If the dealers aren't afraid of rivals who cut off people's heads and leave them as grisly reminders of their power, what makes you think they would be afraid of the government, even if we were willing to have the sort of police state where such things could happen?

No, we need to solve the drug problem without losing our liberties.

And, no, you can't deny basic civil liberties to drug dealers without denying them to everyone.

Deflection.
Are you positing that all dealers and addicts are suicidal?

You think dealers are afraid of the courts? The drug dealer down the street will kill them in the blink of an eye.

Do you really think stricter laws will scare them off? This is why we have spent a trillion dollars with no results

Actually, no. In fact, I think going to jail is a cost of doing business for them. They get placed in jail with the people who generally buy drugs, they make connections, get out and have a stronger network to deal with.

Of course not...

But they are willing to risk death to get the massive amounts of money from the drug trade. They do it every day.

There's your problem right there.

Are you really as ignorant as you post?

You missed out on the fact that our Prisons are overflowing with drug dealers? They don't think they will get caught? They know they can get caught...they know they can be murdered by other dealers.

They just don't care....there is too much money to be made

Wow, are you ill-informed.
Drug dealers do not make that much money. That is why most of them live at home with momma.
Go check Freakonomics for the details here.

Yup, another scam, which ignorant people just eat up like most of the "wars" that have been going on forever, that does nothing. Just away for government to spend money and people to make money, and prison is a money making business.

Instead of just throwing people in jail, which often times makes them a worse person than before they went into jail, and have very little chance for rehabilitation and getting back into the work force once out of jail, that money would be better spent on actual rehabilitation.

Imagine that, trying to address the actual problem, instead of just punishing. But too many people lack rational thought and common sense and refuse to acknowledge reality

We are spending a fortune fighting a victimless crime. Legalize Marijuana...tax it

yup, its a job creator, and instead of going to black market, it goes to legit businesses. Plus its a huge revenue source for the government. In denver since medical marijuana took off, they have $5 million dollars in uncashed checks because they can't process the registrations for med marijuana licenses. For a city with budget problems, that sure as hell can't hurt

Cigarettes are legal and yet there is a huge black market in bootlegged cigarettes. If you impose the same tax on marijuana why wouldn't you have the same result? Probably worse, in fact as there are no established brands.

Huge black market? compared to legal sales? Bullshit, but you call for executing people so who the fuck cares what a dumb shit troll like yourself has to say.
I'll remember than next time you call Obama a marxist, and here you are claiming we should kill people for drug use.

Translation: You are right and the only thing I can do is call you names.

Thanks for clearing that up, Stinky.

 You act like a idiot, expect to be called out on being one. BUt I know, that's all trolls like you have, post stupid shit, then play the persecution/name calling card when someone calls you out on it. YOu are a joke, anyone with half a brain knows that, so I could give a shit what you say. Such a sad existence you must have to get off on doing this
