Where? My black family is succeeding just fine. This is more fantasy. What I've argued in the past is that the disparities of outcomes are influenced by socioeconomic policies of the past. For instance New Deal policies subsidized home ownership for white families. It subsidized the building of white suburban communities which lead to the creation of the white middle class. Today the vast majority of white middle wealth is in home equity. Those same policies however did not subsidize home ownership for black american families. They were moved into government projects and the communities they were located in, red lined, literally, to prohibit investment in them.


As immigrants we didn't face these hardships. We were already middle class in Jamaica. One of my grandfathers owned a corner store and the other owned an underground casino and nightclub. My parents and their siblings worked for IBM, Alcoa, or Cannon back then which I think was still making printers. We had the money to immigrate here and establish ourselves. On the other hand Black American families have on average $10,000 of wealth compared to a white families $100,000 of average wealth. It doesn't take a genius to understand the disparity of outcomes given that situation.
