upgraded my spectrum fiber to 1g, lowest plan they offer for 50 bucks a month, get a free wifi7 router

Told a rep I know how to setup a router, been doing it for over 20 years

nope, had a tech come out to plug it in and just check everything

well.....the cheap askey router sucks, not only are the speeds slower
it has no range, my farthest computer could only connect to 2.4

went back to my 8 year old flagshp linksys, faster speed, all 5G
and it can reach all my computers

need to call or chat if a tech is in the area, you can have this junk back

Yeah, I don't use house routers. Far more control if you own the router.

yep, I can get into my setting and mess around, can't do that with one from the ISP

not a huge deal but if they gave you say a power arris I'd be OK but askey? lol pure junk
under powered, no range

even with my test laptop almost right next to it on 5 my linksys is still faster and this askey is supposed
to be a wifi 7

not impressed at all

I guess you get what you pay for.

I hear you. I have a Netgear, I don't remember the model. I have my computer's hardwired to the router in they have a cat8 cable connected. I only use the wifi for mobile devices.

Funny thing, the ISP one was like, a single room.

Mine can reach 3/4 of the way to my back fence.

Oh, and I get to turn the guest networks off. Someone want on My network, they're gong to have to tell me why.

Family excluded of course.

likely a nighthawk, they are a top model
more powerful chip, better antenna than any
low end ISP model, even if it's free

when I got into my computer settings and the askey basically chose
which band based on strength, power it defaulted to 2.4

my speeds went from roughly 200/200 to 30/30....well that's not any upgrade

feel bad for the tech for wasting both our time
