All In with Chris Hayes on MSNBC | The Chris Hayes Show

Click the arrow in the center of the page to hear the interview with Michael Lewis on his new book, "Who is Government." It puts a human face on our public servants. While doing so explaining the types of essential, thankless work many are doing.
A word of caution for Musk fans. It does not put him in a good light.

“If things go really wrong, it's not Elon Musk is going to suffer. The risks are spread very unevenly through the population. And so he's playing with fire, but he'll never get burned,” says best-selling author Michael Lewis, editor of the new book, “Who is Government?: The Untold Story of Public Service.”

No government exists for the purpose of employing people. It is simply a happy coincidence that in the course of providing the infrastructure, goods and services that the government guarantees, it employs a shitload of humans.

But the taxpayers are entitled to know that their taxes are being spent wisely and according to the Constitution. Close to half of all Federal spending is literally unconstitutional - more than half if you include Social Security and Medicare, both are unconstitutional but funded separately in order to pass USSC scrutiny.

Since the days of FDR Leftists in Congress have sought to "buy" the votes of citizens with unconstitutional spending, and it long ago reached the "pandemic" level.

While DOGE is theoretically trying to fight only fraud, waste, and abuse - which are massive in the Federal government - they are also whittling away at some of the more blatantly unconstitutional programs that Leftist beneficiaries enjoy.

So how would one fairly characterize those who fight this campaign?

Funny, I’ve worked for the government most of my life, and all you do is call me a traitor and a bigot.

Remember when Hillary told people in Appalachia to LEARN TO CODE.

Then it became a MEME, and the FUCKHEADS on Twitter would ban you for posting that…because it made fun of their BELOVED HILLARY!! CANT HAVE DEMS BEING MADE FUN OF ON TWITTER!

The unwarranted contempt conservatives have for Federal workers is one reason why Republicans are incapable of sound, responsible governance.

Yet again clueless liberals miss the mark. Silly attempts to make this an emotional issue to avoid the reality that the people support the administration and will look away from any emotional nonsense because they demand change. Learn to read the room. It is this out of touch attitude that aided in Trump's glorious victory.

So Americans must decide then, which do you prefer, cuts to your social security, medicaid.and other benefit programs, or,.cuts to the number of.employees in government? I would argue for cuts to the U.S military also, finding efficiencies there and procuring better investments in drone A.I etc. With $36T in debt savings must be found everywhere, citizens have to choose priorities because your government has been mismanaging your taxes abd borrowing beyond acceptable levels.

Social security and medicare have helped more Americans than any other thing this nation has created. Why would anyone sane person want them gone?

Emotion is all they have.

They do not have facts.

Men and women are the same? Come on.

$36 TRILLION DOLLARS IN DEBT, end thread!

Then INCREASE TAXES FOR THE WEALTHY. Problem solved. Stop making working people pay for roads, courts and the military.

MAKE WEALTHY PEOPLE PAY THEIR FAIR SHARE OF THE COSTS, SINCE THEY'RE GETTING ALL OF THE REWARDS.

So they can spend that too and be right back to where we are right now?

No thanks.

Progs talk that. And then do it partially. Demand a 90% tax rate for the rich and corporations. And then we can end this from the results.
