You knew in your heart of hearts from the very beginning.
Even as you watched those first flames take the first houses and then leap up through the canyons and down through the hillsides, through the breaks, even jumping PCH to gobble up the houses tucked next to the highway itself - those uniquely SoCal structures sandwiched between the asphalt and that big, blue Pacific surf...you knew.
You knew would never see it again, for all the gargoyle grin assurances of the mayor who couldn't be bothered to be there when the flames broke out. For all the slickster, huckstering, faux promises of a governor faking phone calls as he skittered like a cockroach from angry, heartbroken residents who only wanted answers.
You knew.
You knew when comedian turned prophet Adam Corolla went on an epic rant from a hotel room desk, a fire refugee himself waiting on word whether he had a home or not, telling you then and there if your home was gone, it was gone for good.

Were the cause and circumstances of the fire deliberate? Was it Arson?
Why has the state and city refused to process the building permits rapidly.
There's no doubt that California is now a socialist state, ironically fed by skimmings/taxes from Wall Street financialization, massive government debt and spending.
This has all been centrally-planned, and with all plans they must be approved according to present politics, by apparatchiks in the capital.
Individual homes owners will not be allowed to rebuild so that the Marxist plan of Smart LA-2028 will be allowed to go forward.

Here in the northwest we have to contend with wildfires every summer. Some years we have an unusual amount of wildfires. Both Canada, Washington state & also the state of Idaho have had wildfires that were found to be the work of arsonists. I have seen some vids of a homeless arsonist attempting to start fire(s) with a blow torch in that Pacific Palisades general area. I could NOT find any follow up vids on the suspect(???) that was caught in the act of trying to start several fires with his blow torch.

First, they aren’t going to get anything close to fair market value for their destroyed properties as the city leverages its power to refuse to allow reconstruction in the kind of quality that previously existed.
