Many debates on the origin of evil I think the Biblical explanation is the best answer to that age old question.
Satan and his angels were cast down to Earth after a war in heaven, according to Revelation 12:7-9. The cause of the war is linked to Satan's rebellion and pride against God, which led to his defeat and expulsion from heaven, resulting in his presence and activity on Earth to deceive and mislead humanity.
