I think more people are interested in the chick fights than the basketball. And on top of that there is a racism factor against a certain white girl that the league isn't doing anything about. People are watching WNBA games to see Caitlin Clark get clobbered and she is the league's bread and butter player. Check out the attendance numbers when she plays vs when she doesn't; if she gets injured then the league is gonna lose a lotta money. And although some people would deny it, there is a racism factor IMHO. I think the WNBA is gonna hafta figure out what they are selling and do it pretty quick. It appears that good basketball isn't the top priority.

And BTW don't the ladies have a player's union? How come I don't hear anything from them about protecting the players? Or is that yet another racism thing?

Her own teammates aren't doing anything to protect her.

The league had a chance to do better by bringing a true superstar in and raising up the whole sport. But, instead, they're trying to destroy her, and in the process the entire WNBA.

Sad.

The WNBA better protect Clark because she is the main reason that attendance is up.

Fighting does help to gin up interest in ladies' hoops, no doubt about it.

But the league really needs to "work" the fights, so no one gets hurt.

You don't want to injure your main cash cows, mainly Caitlin Clark.

The girls need to be taught how to deliver a working punch and how to sell it so the fans are convinced its legit. Also, some ripping of clothes might be something to introduce. Guys might be more interested in watching if they think there might be some nudity.

How about a flagrant foul, an automatic ejection, and a suspension on top of that for a blow to the head? Those women are going for the face instead of the ball and that isn't basketball, it's thuggery. Whoever is running the WNBA is doing a shit job of it thus far.

Woke at its worst.

Nothing screams black privilege quite like this.

NOBODY watches WNBA games to see fights. They watch them on YouTube and nobody actually cares about who wins those games.

As with the NBA, the WNBA has been degraded by the introduction of physical brutality, but it is different for the girls simply because girls are different. The mainly-White victims are not inclined to fight back as a man might do, so physical intimidation is more of a Thing in the WNBA.

It would be a simple thing to tell the players, coaches, and Refs that the physical bullshit will no longer be tolerated. Ejections and suspensions will result from blatant examples, and where a pattern shows, the coach will be suspended without pay for several games. Problem solved.

The bullshit with palming the ball and traveling...I just don't get it. Why are they not called? The NBA can say, "Well, it led up to a dunk," but that doesn't apply in the WNBA. It's just an uncalled b violation.

Agreed, except I would say the problem is somewhat controlled but not really solved. But yeah, the WNBA is gonna have to get tough with the physical violence for financial reasons if nothing else. The league is going to lose a lotta money if/when Clark suffers a year-ending injury. One wonders just how fiscally stable that league is, this could be an existential thing.

Watch this subway girl-boy fight just to see the guys face who photo bombs. They could be on the way to WNBA?

They wanted to get her to take a swing at her and get ejected.

This foul was a finger jab to the eyes.
