Without tariffs…how do we bring back jobs and groom Americans to buy American made again?

They work for specific industries for specific reasons

I think they are effective as a short term bargaining tool when pressure needs to be applied. However without savy negotiating, they might not be as effective. In the case of China too, they have stolen so much of our intellectual property and just re-sell items that we designed, here in the states, Tariffs are about the only thing they will respond to. They are not interested in our ideas of fairness.

I read Duke energy has decided to rethink the use of coal in power plants. Evidently it's more cost efficient

TAxing them even more would have helped then right???? no, I dont think your 100% right on this. Bringing manufacturing back is also not an over night process either for every industry. The groundwork has to be layed out first.

A Chinese factory worker makes around six bucks an hour. Americans can't live on that.

John Deere moved a large part of it's operations to Mexico. Not surprisingly I'm reading John Deere is having massive quality issues. I'm from rural farming and was shocked to see a family friend who's ran Deere for generations operating Case equipment. I asked my mom and she said downtime was costing them money

Well not everyone, but there are environmental groups who for years would rather see mining and other heavy industry done in other countries, but not in their back yard. To an extent its quite understandable to have regulations, but not to shut down REAL industry, which is what has happened.
