The "journalist" wants to ask about negotiations, but Speaker Mike Johnson just hopes for five Dem or "not Dem" senators to do the right thing:

Republicans made an offer in good faith. Fund the government and they will hold a vote on a date certain to give the illegal aliens granted "legal status" back "their" Medicaid. What could be fairer than that?

Democrats watched the lower than predicted turnout on "No Kings" day... it might make some of them think twice...

I heard it reported that 7 million people attended across the country. I don't know if that reflects that number accurately or not.

They have not acted in good faith in years. They simply are not to be trusted, if the Dems want to preserve healthcare for the those not working at jobs where healthcare is offered through the company (basically all part time workers, even if working 2 or 3 jobs to make ends meet, as well as many self employed contractors of various types) as it is recognized as simply a move to kill The Affordable Healthcare Act, as they have attempted to, no less the 17 times in the past, no matter how many Americans now have some kind of healthcare, other than the Emergency room.

Extend the subsidy, in the new continuing resolution, then schedule votes to see whether to keep it, and see how many Republicans Representatives are willing to go on the record specifically to strip healthcare from their constituents, realizing more is spent/more people covered through the Affordable healthcare act marketplaces in Red states than in Blue states.

Democrats have put Republicans in a position in which they will look incredibly weak and foolish if they go back to the drawing board and come up with a new, Democrat-pleasin,' CR. Why would the GOP volunteer to look like cucks?

Maybe if the CR the Democrats and "not Democrats" offered were not so ludicrous, giving free healthcare to people who crossed the border illegally (and were given "legal status" through the magic of the Autopen), and giving half a billion dollars to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, your idea of extending (and presumably renaming) the Supplemental COVID ACA Subsidies might have been on the table.

The Democrats and "not Democrats" voted for the Supplemental Subsidy to end when they passed it. Not sure why Republicans would not.

Meh, I really don't care one way or the other.

Nothing has really changed, it's still the Schumer Shutdown.

In fact, when I looked at the Sunday shows the vile dem shutdown was barely mentioned.

It seems that the vile dem Jew hater running for mayor in NYC is sucking all of the air out the political room.

So what? They could have gone with continued support the whole time. Everybody knows they wanted to kill The Affordable Healthcare Act, and totally, (as always) without a Republican plan to deal with healthcare for millions of American, predominantly in their own districts.

There is nothing in the plan to give free healthcare to illegal aliens, and supposedly Biden's flood has been stopped, or at least that is what I have heard. No, the problem is with the millions of actual Americans depending on the Affordable Healthcare Act, and there are no numbers from the government, now or ever, suggesting aliens (legal or illegal) were the beneficiaries of The Affordabel Healthcare Act. I am not a nice person, I do not give a shit if illegals get healthcare, even in Emergency rooms. I look at it, kind of like my back country adventures, where I go miles away from roads, deep into rugged terrain or dangerous rivers, often completely out of communications, should a health emergency or accident occur I would just be fkd, but it was my choice to go there, and never expected support.

I don't know what you mean by "continued support?" Continued COVID Subsidies?

Yes, they want to kill the Affordable Care Act, but haven't shown the political will to do so, and are not likely to during the second Trump Administration.

But that has nothing to do with extending or not extending the COVID subsidies.
There is nothing in the plan to give free healthcare to illegal aliens,
Under the Democrats' proposal, illegal aliens who were given "legal status" would be eligible for Medicaid, and illegal aliens who somehow missed the opportunity to get "legal status" would get free healthcare at Emergency Rooms, reimbursed by Medicaid.

It has been slowed to a trickle, praise Allah (and Trump).

I did not mention illegals (with "legal status") and the ACA.

Aliens are banned from buying policies on the ACA Exchanges?

Then your siding with the Democrats on their CR is acting against your interests, in my opinion. My reasons are:

I believe that Democrats are playacting about being so concerned about the COVID subsidies, when that is only one of their three demands, and the least important to them (I believe). Based on their previous policies of allowing as many illegals to flood the naation and to reward them as lavishly as possible, my guess is that the free healthcare for illegals (granted "legal status") is actually their primary demand.

The Half-billion to CPB is their give up demand, and the COVID subsidies are their last ditch give up in order to save Medicaid for illegals with "legal status."

Many illegals, even those given "legal status," are self-deporting thanks to Kristi Noem's incentives. Taking away their Medicaid would take away an incentive for them to stay.
