As we approach the election, I can’t help noticing that many of our MAGA friends on this message board have not voted in this poll. Hmmm, I wonder why that is.

Nobody knows what is going to happen in this election. We shouldn’t even expect that the final results to be in on election day. Whatever happens, I trust our democratic process to carry out the will of the people. Maybe my side wins, maybe my side loses. But either way, it will be the decision of the people.

Democracy isn’t just something I pretend to believe in, conveniently, when my side wins. Democracy is about understanding the reality that sometimes the people will agree with your candidate and sometimes they won’t.

Our MAGA friends on this message board have proven that they will only accept the legitimacy of elections they win and they will scream that the election was stolen when their side doesn’t win. They can pretend their opinions are more nuanced than that, but it really is that simple with them. Note that they never accuse their own side of cheating, only Democrats when they win. When their side wins, it’s legitimate. When their side loses, they must have cheated. It really is that simple with them.
