They take an oath to your Constitution, correct? That is their oath and they serve the public, it doesnt matter who the mayor is. Considering the abuses some bad cops were getting away with even in the late 90s, perhaps the.pendulum was bound to swing the other way.for better or for worse. If a.cop is righteous he wll be protected by citizens and angels regardless of the mayor.

When I was with the Feds and a new Administration came in, the attitude was, "We will be here long after this guy is gone." I don't know if cops feel that way since their careers are often only 20 years. The question is, are there lucrative suburban cop (and comparable) jobs that they can go to?

Attrition will be a problem, but not catastrophic.

Do you think white cops in New York like the minorities before Mamdani? Did something change?
The average salary for a police officer in New York with about 10 years of experience is approximately $131,703.52. Did you think they served for love of a mayor.
There are few cities in the US that pay that well, none on the east cost, I am aware of.
I think they are cops there, because they wanted to be cops, and wanted the income and benefits of being cops there and in the area they are from, with roots in or near that city. But, I could be wrong.

Florida is offering big bonuses for any of their officers to move there. I have a feeling many will take them up on it.
