The Trump administration admitted it “inadvertently” deported a transgender woman to Mexico this month after a judge ordered she not be removed to the country over fears she may be tortured or violently persecuted.
The government has said it will allow Britania Uriostegui Rios, a Mexican national, to return to the US if she is able to make it to the border. Once she has returned, she will be placed back in ICE custody while the administration tries to deport her to a different country, court documents show.
So, a few observations before I talk about whether "Britania" will be the new Kilmar:
1) If Mexico really tortures men who act out their disorder of gender dysphoria by pretending to be women, should we ever send a penny of U.S. aid to Mexico?
Mexico is one of the deadliest countries in the world for transgender people, according to the Trans Murder Monitoring Project. Though the full scope of risk to transgender people in Mexico is unclear, journalists and advocacy groups have documented pervasive – and often fatal – violence.
Hm. Journalists and advocacy groups? Neither are known for accurate reporting. Especially give that advocacy groups are often the unnamed "sources" for journalists presentation of purported facts.
Still, I'm sure we would all agree that it is best not to take a chance on funding such vile human rights violations by giving money to Mexico, directly or through NGO's. If anyone believes that such torturers of transfolk should be rewarded with cash, please speak up.
2) Will Britania really be safer in the U.S.? I thought we have been told over and over that transfolk in the U.S. are subjected to brutality on a daily basis, and not just from their pro-Palestinian allies. Wouldn't bringing this person back into the U.S. be out of the frying pan and into the fire?
Anywan, back to the question. Does she meet the pre-requisites to be a hero to the Democrats?
Since entering the US in 2003, Uriostegui Rios has racked up a lengthy criminal history that includes convictions for disorderly conduct, sexual solicitation and DUI, according to court filings from a Department of Homeland Security official.
Well . . . sounds like a person Democrats would always side with, but hero?
An immigration judge ordered her deportation in March after she was convicted of assault with a deadly weapon in Las Vegas.
Ah.
Yes, this person will be lionized by the left.
BTW, what is happening with Kilmar lately? He's still locked up, but the left seems to have forgotten him.
