we both have our own CC for our own goodies
dec 29 I made a purchase for her on amazon
she only now noticed a 59.99 charge for amazon prime video
she tells me, I investigate and contact amazon

turns out somebody with and amazon account [bogus likely]
bought a sub to a streaming channel called UP faith and family

no other charges since

who steals a CC and buys a channel like that and no odd charges since?

it was not flagged by citi because it looks like a legit purchase

great, new card, go back through anything she has it logged in at sites and subs

she has netflix and hulu, not much else so it won't be too hard but still

this is about as goofy as it gets

I got so tired of doing that that I have one card for online payments only. Another for regular purchases. That doesn't mean that my online payments card won't get hacked, but it's far less likely.

the card is used more online than local and only had well established places

this one is just odd, as I noted who buys a sub to a faith and family streaming channel?

clearly it's a woman, that channel is like hallmark

one 60 buck purchase 10 days ago and nothing since.....just strange

I had a credit card get hacked not too long ago. I think there was a skimmer on a gas pump when I stopped at this mom and pop station close to me that I don't usually go to. I check my cards online about every day and noticed some small pending charges come through from weird places which I know I didn't do. I think they were trying out some small charges first and were going to then expand it to bigger charges once they realized the charges were going through. Fortunately, I noticed right away and put a stop to it.

the magnetic swipe is the least secure, many places still have them as a backup
tap function is the most secure per what I read

yeah, some get a card and go nuts, other's do small charges

her card, yes 60 bucks at amazon so it looked legit and went through without a flag
she did not even notice is for about 10 days or so

what? don't use a cc anymore?
that is not logical
Get the app for the card. Usually there is an option to toggle the card on and off. Turn it on when youre using it, then immediately turn it off again as soon as youre done.

I don't use those type of apps on my phone to turn on and off any CC, how would that be possible?

she forgets to turn it on, goes shopping, uses the card and it fails.......yeah that would cause and issue

The banks job is to secure the card and the processor from not being hacked

Ive forgotten to turn it on before. All that happens is it doesnt work when you swipe it, then you remember "oh yeah, i need to turn the card back on". You have the app on your home screen, you switch it back on, then the card works again.

first thing, never swipe, that is old school way to get a hack with fake scanners
chip reader 256 bit SSD, tap the same but uses BT and NFC, nobody can snoop that from 10 feet away
