Why was much of 1960s-1980s American society "Anti Fantasy", "Anti Imagination", and "Anti Creativity"?

I heard some pretty wild stories on Reddit.

A football player and cheerleader couple forbidding their children from seeing Star Wars.

Parents who think fantasy is only for weird people.

Why were many 1960s-80s Americans anti fantasy, anti imagination, and anti creativity?

Were they the people that had their IQs lowered by "Leaded Gas"?

Lead from gasoline blunted the IQ of about half the U.S. population, study says

Were the Soviets "Pro Fantasy" and that caused American society to be "Anti Fantasy"?
