The spendthrift Democrats who have HISTORICALLY been in favor of increasing the national debt with gifts to underserving lazy people are as their breeding fighting the
efforts to reduce Federal spending especially for totally wasteful expenses!
And the general public, MSM and Democrats blame GOP.
BUT when you look at the causes of national debt increase, while it generally increases under a Republican president, the cause is the legislation that a Democrat Congress passes
that takes place then under a GOP president. As a result uninformed people that support Democrats blame GOP for increasing the national debt. BUT who wrote the bills in the short years before the GOP president took office that CAUSED the massive debt increases?

So today Trump et.al. are recognizing what few if any people are aware of... we've reached the point where the USA economy has to explode dramatically and our government expenses be if possible reduced and at least not INCREASE!

President Joe Biden and the Republican-controlled House of Representatives appear to be on a collision course over raising the statutory limit on the national debt.
House Republicans say they want Biden to accept significant (but unspecified) spending cuts in exchange for raising the limit.
But the president has insisted that raising the limit – which allows the government to continue paying its obligations under the law on time – shouldn’t be a budgetary bargaining chip

One claim circulating widely on social media, prompted by House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, posits that former President Donald Trump contributed more to the debt than any other in the White House occupant in history.

But that isn’t quite right — and experts say the issue is much more nuanced than a political talking point might let on.
Here are the facts.

CLAIM: Trump “ran up more debt than any other President in American history.”

AP’S ASSESSMENT: That’s incorrect. The debt incurred during the Trump era was very high. But in terms of raw dollars, the total debt rose more under former President Barack Obama, with Trump in second place — though Obama held office for two terms, while Trump served one.

But the debt accumulated under specific presidents isn’t just a result of their own policies —
it reflects decisions made by their predecessors as well as by members of Congress.

“The point is that fiscal policy reflects joint action by Congress and the president,” said David Primo, a University of Rochester professor of political science and business administration. Statements like Jeffries’ imply presidents have sole control over fiscal policy, he noted.

In conclusion then... Democrats leave a mess in Congress that GOP has to clean up and in doing so acting as parents... have to pay the bills!

Not gifts, blatant BRIBES to vote Dem so Dems can get re-elected and continue to line their own pockets with bribes, kickbacks and insider trading.

As famed investor Ray Dalio recently put it, "I agree with problem, but I strongly disagree with the solution".

The caveman approach doesn't work in a spectacularly complicated situation. Even though we need to streamline government.

If the caveman approach is the only way you know how to do something, maybe you shouldn't be doing it.

Caveman approach.....Is that a new DNC buzzword I missed? :dunno:

I have no problem with cutting spending to the bone, or a small tax increase on billionaires.
Then you are as bad as they are. 😐

It's like the old Roman saying.....A slave not only wants his freedom but slaves of his own.

A millionaire strives to be a billionaire and it's not the .gov's job to make tax slaves of either.

^^^ Democrats do nothing but gaslight Americans

If Kamala won, they would be spending more on all the things doge is cutting.

Democrats are traitors working to intentionally collapse America.

If you want to pay for sex changes in Guatemala and gay musicals in Ireland, vote democrat.

Spending is up under DOGE, not down. In fact, it's costing in excess of $100 billion dollars.

All to get Musk out of a series of regulatory jams.

You might want to tell the gop congress.....The Senate's proposed cuts are only in the low billions and some of the cocksuckers are wanting to raise taxes.
All true! But you are ignoring the truly devastating reality of what will happen when the debt becomes 79% of the USA budget!

Hmm, Every president promises to cut spending. Hell, most even do audits, etc., to reduce spending. And what happens?

Nothing.

There might be better ways to do it, but no one is able to. A thought to consider. The debate to cut spending get so drawn out that the exercise becomes futile.

Its time. Lets the DOGE out.

Have to stop this line from going up to stop spending from going up.

What we need is the now existing D.O.G.E. begin to cut further parts of redundant Federal government and stop the wasteful costs, overruns and fraud.
Got to lean down that budget...

You're obviously not a serious person. The Republicans are just as responsible for mass deficits as the Democrats. In fact, historically, the Republicans have been worse, but you still vote for them and then complain about fiscal insolvency.

So you should then according to this data be taxing the groups that are paying less than
  • In 2021, taxpayers filed 153.6 million tax returns, reported earning more than $14.7 trillion in adjusted gross income (AGI), and paid nearly $2.2 trillion in individual income taxes.
  • The average income tax rate in 2021 was 14.9 percent. The top 1 percent of taxpayers paid a 25.9 percent average rate, nearly eight times higher than the 3.3 percent average rate paid by the bottom half of taxpayers.
  • The top 1 percent’s income share rose from 22.2 percent in 2020 to 26.3 percent in 2021 and its share of federal income taxes paid rose from 42.3 percent to 45.8 percent.
  • The top 50 percent of all taxpayers paid 97.7 percent of all federal individual income taxes, while the bottom 50 percent paid the remaining 2.3 percent.
DO YOU comprehend that?
97.7 % was paid by 50% of all taxpayers
WHILE
the bottom 50% paid just 2.3%!!!

YOU didn't read the comment did you?
The majority of times Democrats controlled house and senate while lower national debt but when they left control to
GOP national debt increased. WHY? BECAUSE Dems wrote legislation that raised costs of the government almost
ever year they were in control. Consequently the GOP then had to figure out how to control the raises in government waste and WHEN the GOP legislation goes into affect a year or two later under Democrats... Democrats then raised the costs of government operations which RAISED THE NATIONAL DEBT!

With respect, in all my years I have never seen a spending bill in Congress where the democrats wanted to spend less than the GOP did. It is ALWAYS the democrats who want to spend more, no matter who the president is. Was it not the democrats who spend almost $2 trillion in COVID relief in 2021? Did they not want to spend $3.5 trillion in the Build Back Better bill that some said was actual more than $5 tril? Obviously it is the POTUS who has the sign those bills to put them into effect and both parties have contributed to the fiscal insanity, but don't tell me the Republicans have been worse than the Democrats. That is not true.
