Why doesn't space excite TV viewers as much as it did in the 60s and 90s?

This looks crazy!

and this looks like it will be decent!

The Expanse has been saved by Amazon and renewed for a fifth season.

In the 1960s Star Trek was big and by the 90s Star Trek had a viewership that would rival the audience sizes of today's cop shows and Game of Thrones.

Why have TV viewers turned their back on space?

They lied to us about flying cars ... you just can't trust them.

Actually, looking back at the original Star Trek shows - they were incredibly stupid many of them. The Enterprise itself and some of the space imagery was cutting edge though. I loved the later movies they made ....

The public is no longer proud of the United States and has no interest in national success. Those that do show a national pride are called racists.

NASA is a shell of it's former self and hasn't done anything of note since the Shuttle program.
And really whats left to do with our currant technology?
