Of course, naming a team after American Indians shows respect for their fighting ability and courage, not disrespect.

That's not why it was named the Redskins. IIRC, the Redskin name was to honor their original head coach who pretended to be an injun to avoid getting drafted (aka enslaved) and used as cannon fodder by Woodrow Wilson during world war one.
