This question is mainly for Democrats/Liberals/Leftists but feel free to chime in if you lean Right.
Many on the Right believe that the Left hates this country. The left refuses to stand for the National Anthem. The Left thinks this country is systemically racist. They think all white people are either privileged or racist. They hate many historical figures who built this country and have torn down their statues. They hate capitalism and favor socialism. They hate the president and his supporters. They hate the 2nd amendment.
Honest question;
What do you love about America and why is it the greatest country in the world?
Foremost I love America because my forefathers shed their blood to defend and grow this civilization. For the paternal side of my family
it began with my great, great grandfather's father who fought in the Civil War, for the 2nd Virginia—but that's another story. My great grandfather lived through Hell on Earth fighting through the trenches of WWI only to be sent home wounded and hit with the Spanish Flu. His son, my grandfather, volunteered for the Army in 1941 for the only open job available, which was a battalion cook. He could have rested easy in that MOS, safe from front line fighting. But that wasn't good enough for him; he didn't feel like he was doing enough for the War effort. So he volunteered again—for the Airborne and became a Pathfinder. He ended up fighting with the 82nd Airborne across Europe, from Normandy to Market Garden and the Battle of the Bulge. Somewhere in there he was noticed by the Supreme Allied Commander and ended up serving on Eisenhower's personal security detail.
Second off, I love my country because I can stop typing this message, head out to my car, and I can no-shit drive to California or Texas or even Alaska if I so choose (ferry required, **** Canada). While doing this I need not worry one bit about encountering checkpoints along the way or being asked for my "papers".
Third off, America is supremely amazing. I love the sheer overwhelming variety of things to see and buy; places to visit and people to meet. If I wanted to I could go on down to the bayou (I'm in Maryland), hit up a local church off Fort Polk and eat some crawdad, and then I could head over and do some fishing at Port Bolivar in Texas. I could then ride out to Death Valley for some rock climbing or fossil hunting and finish the trip surfing the mouth of the Columbia River in Washington. Isn't that utterly blow your skull out amazing? The sheer potential freedom available to me, should I choose to embrace and spend it?
Last off, I love my nation because I can march right into a local federal Congressman's office and tell his secretary what a prick SOB he or she is and you know what? In my nation, in my America I am empowered, by my Creator, to do that. Try that anywhere else in the modern world and you might not make it back.
AMERICA!
