So far there is no link of Crooks to annt-Trump websites, no political social media presence.

What we are seeing is the typical shooter profile.

Was Trump shot for political reasons or because he was a high profile target for a gun fetishist looking to go out in a blast of glory?

Some are impressionable. I would say after all the Lefty actions and rhetoric against Trump, brandishing him as a Nazi, court cases, put him in the bullseye etc.. Crooks will have thought Trump was getting away with all the alleged crap thrown at him, so he thought he had to take matters into his own hands and dish out the punishment by shooting him.
