That’s a silly post. Light sweet crude is preferred for gasoline whether it’s here or elsewhere. Do you mean gas or gasoline ? We are one of the worlds leading producer of light sweet crude….
First you claim we are energy independent then you go on to acknowledge that we aren’t. Either you’re completely misinformed or English isn’t your first language. HTF could we be energy independent if we REQUIRE 490,000 barrels of crude from the Middle East for gasoline ? Our light sweet crude is low sulfur content as is the same from anywhere else.

The bottom line is, oil is priced globally and NOT LOCALLY and we are literally subsidizing the world markets regardless of how much oil we produce at home…….WE ARE NOT ENERGY INDEPENDENT.
We are tied to the world market. The only way out, is to REPLACE OUR OWN CONSUMPTION OF FOSSIL FUELS with RENEWABLES where ever we can that are not in the world market.

ELECTRICITY IS FUNGIBLE and republicans are stupid or in bed with the fossil fuel industry or both.
We will never be energy independent in areas we use fossil fuels.
