Meh, what's wrong, we used to tow with chains all the time. Of course the towed guy would be inside working the steering wheel and brake....Oh, and pointed forward.

Trouble with late model vehicles is the transmission is turning without lube. I towed a later model Explorer on a tow dolly behind a MH and did the transmission in because the rear wheels were still turning the transmission with no lube circulating.
