"Donald Trump again blamed Democratic state leaders on the West Coast for forest fires raging across the region for poor forest management, saying they should be ready because dry trees can “just explode -- When trees fall down after … 18 months ...they become dry” like a “match stick,“ Mr Trump said. “They just explode. They can explode.”

Of course Trump was just being sarcastic, he doesn't mean trees spontaneously explode, he is just making the point that in today's current climate conditions, Democrats have done nothing to address forest vegetation on federal lands.

Yes, that is correct -- two of every three charred acres in California, Oregon and Washington have been on federal land managed by Trump's administration -- but the climate-denying Democrats have done everything in their power to block Trump from doing anything to stop trees from exploding..luckily, things will be cooler and wildfires and dynamite trees will go away and be no more...but the point Trump was making was -- he could have stopped it if the Dems didn't always try to play it down or chose to do nothing to stop it...now 24 people so far are dead.....and that blood is on Democrat's hands....

Ahhh, the divide & conquer politic'n is alive & well within the RepubliCratic Duopoly Party(RCDP)!

This is the way we do things now. We dont attempt to find solutions, we try and blame someone else. And yes, that is both parties.

No he wasn't being sarcastic. He's just that stupid. He wasn't just being sarcastic when he suggested putting disinfectant in the body. He wasn't just being sarcastic when he said we could put lights inside the body. He wasn't just being sarcastic when he said we should drop nuclear bombs on hurricanes. He's just that stupid.

He's just that stupid.
Not just stupid. Belligerently stupid. Deliberately, intentionally, purposefully, incredibly,.. stupid with a vengeance. Like most of the posters on this MB.
Trump is actually pretty smart -- not in an intelligent way -- but he is smart as far as knowing how full of shit this country is.....

He knows he can be astronomically inept and idiotic -- and be assured that he has an army of sycophants in every media space that will passionately try to excuse, justify and explain away any and everything he does....

When you have that level of untouchable'ness -- you can do anything you want....no other politician enjoys that but him....just one of the 100 Trump scandals would end most other political careers....Trump was a cartoon long before he became president, he's a character -- so anything he does will be written off as Trump being Trump....

Yeah, he's carnival barker. He knows he appeals to those who feel they're better than others, hyper-nationalistic, authoritarian, racist, fearful, angry, unappreciated, and put upon like himself. He knows he can always count upon most of them for support while mostly taking The Haves for granted. Smart ass vs. dumb ass. Proud to be such an ass. Still just an ass.

Can you provide a link on the 2 out of 3 charred acres is federal land? Thanks.

You know that a dried out Christmas tree will explode if it catches on fire. That's why you are warned Not to burn them in a fireplace. The trees that are dead and dried out can literally explode. Trump is correct.

Here are the three situations under which trees can explode.

"In 2019, 81% (0.5million acres)of the acreage burned in the East was on nonfederal land, whereas 72% (2.9million acres)of the acreage burned in the West was on federal land."

Thank you, for the link.

I disagree with them for various reasons, they do not take into account that states are responsible for some of the federal land, how much varies from state to state. 2019 is different than 2020. Some of the federal land in western states are nothing but high desert grass and very little timber, they tend to be wind driven and really no underbrush,. Many fires also start on state land and end up on federal land. 10 of the 16 largest fires in California history were state land.

California has been known for not managing their forest systems for decades, this is not new to California. The same debate in Oregon and Washington has been going on for a long time as well. What the states are doing, isn't working and maybe they need to rethink the whole process.
