Liberals don’t hate this idea because we are softer on illegal immigration - we hate it because it’s stupid and unfeasible.
1) Mexico obviously isn’t going to pay for it
2) Nothing is going to stop illegals from scaling the wall or tunneling under it.
3) In many areas, the border goes through American public land. Can you imagine the legal battles in court over this?
4) In many areas, the terrain makes it impossible to even build a wall.
5) 25% of illegal Mexicans who live here came here legally initially but overstayed their visas.
6) THE COST OF MAINTAINING THE WALL WOULD BE ASTRONOMICAL BECAUSE THE STRETCH OF TIME WOULD BE TO THE END OF AMERICA BEING A NATION WITH A FUNCTIONAL GOVERNMENT.
7) TOTAL NET MIGRATION FROM MEXICO IS AT ZERO SINCE THE GREAT RECESSION OF 2008 HIT.
8) OBAMA’S ADMINISTRATION DEPORTED MORE ILLEGAL ALIENS THAN ANY PRESIDENT BEFORE HIM.
1 It requires a bit of native intelligence to understand that Mexico isn't going to reach into their back pocket, pull out a wallet, and give us cash up front. I know you clowns want to say that the promise Trump made is that they would send us checks to pay for it, but there are two things with this. A campaign promise is often not followed through on, and those that are are often carried out with some modification.
2. The wall will make the effort to scale it nearly impossible. Nothing has to be perfect. The wall, coupled with other programs and solid diligence by our border patrol, will effectively reduce the crossing to zero. After all, when immates escape a prison, they almost NEVER go across the wall.
3. It isn't the public land that will be the issue, it is the private land. Try to think a little bit harder on this one.
4. Then we won't have to put a wall there, will we?0
5. Has nothing to do with the wall. If you want to talk about the wall, stick to that topic.
6. The cost of protecting our borders is a Constitutionally authorized cost and a very necessary one. Suck it up.
7 Correct. No one is migrating from Mexico, but there sure are hundreds of thousands of border jumpers trying to cross the border each and every year. Learn your words.
8 Obama's administration changed the metric on what constitutes a deportation so the claim isn't a valid one. Stopping someone at the border is NOT a deportation. However, if you want to use that metric, then Trump's 65% reduction of crossing count as deportations too!
Have a nice day.
