Harris would be the nominee because the Biden campaign's war chest in excess of $91 million, could easily be transferred to Harris but not to any other candidate. The lost of that war chest would be disasters for democrats. Secondly party heavyweights and the strongest backers have all agreed to back Harris. Lastly, a floor fight at the convention would probably seal the lid on a Trump victory.

If Biden steps down we all know he's getting paid so it's not surprising he's gonna expect payment for endorsing Harris or not.

Biden didn't speak directly. The indirect statement said he would call for an open convention, bypassing Harris by not endorsing her. Supposed to happen Saturday.

It's my opinion that they will unite behind Harris at the convention and not one person will actively fight to be the nominee. Others will get some votes from the delegates but Harris will be the clear winner.

That could be. I honestly don't know who would want to jump in at this stage of the election. I think though that it will be seen as an insult to Harris to make her "fight for what should be hers" blah blah blah

We will see. It looks like they are going to an open convention.

That can only occur if Biden resigns, otherwise he will be the nominee. If he does reign within the next week, there will be time for state committees to decide on a new candidate. Harris seems like a natural choice but it could end up being and open convention with floor fights. That would just about guarantee a Trump victory.
