How many of you here believe what legacy media is serving up? CNN, FOX, ABC, NBC,etc...

The media is squishy, and they continue to demonstrate that in 2024. Most notably, the cognitive decline of Biden, the Trump assassination attempt, and questioning or challenging harris's evasion and avoidance of speaking publicly through press conferences, interviews, or just answering one question.

"legacy media" much like "lawfare" etc is a meaningless term.
Nah, not really. Lawfare is a term completely made up. Legacy media is an apt description of the established media outlets. They’re established for a reason--they’re good.

Fox paid over 700 milion for lying. And they are still due to pay others more. None of the others have had to do that. So yes, I trust them way more than what I see coming primarily from the right.

The key institutional shareholders that control fox news are the same as they are for cnn and the rest of legacy media. If Fox settles with CNN, it is really just Blackrock paying themselves. I'm glad to hear that you don't trust FOX, but there is no reason to trust ANY of the Blackrock news companies when they are all controlled by Blackrock, Vanguard, and State Street. News companies objectively reporting political news is an oxymoron.

There is no reason to take the stories at face value, regardless of the source. Readers must be critical thinkers, looking at the viewpoint and attitude of the source, asking whether the events described happened as described or otherwise, and if a particular story stirs any interest, seeking out multiple sources.

The most respected sources of the past have lost the respect of critical thinking readers/viewers, with their biased and sometimes fact-free reporting, and presentation of OPINIONS and gossip as fact. Obviously, Trump has brought out the worst of them, so stories about him must be taken with a grain of salt regardless of the source.

Readers and viewers also have to take some blame since they reward slanted sources with subscriptions and clicks. Most of us, whether it's consciously or not, want to read the sources that confirm our pre-existing biases.

My choice of giving up on legacy media was not based on belief or non-belief, it primarily became just a matter of the differing mindsets on items of interest. I find more in-depth information on-line on matters that I care about.

Additionally, other than a few sports, I've given up on legacy video media. Too many commercials.

Everyone has a bias so I don't believe 100% of what anyone tells me but the facts CNN offers are pretty accurate despite their liberal bias. I use MediaBiasFactCheck.com to judge as I find them quite fair.

Every Pirate Needs a Parrot

"Old news" is an oxymoron. Anyone who uses "oxymoron" for the Old School "a contradiction in terms" is controlled by the media. If you parrot their ignorant vocabulary and grammar, which all fake sides do, then you believe in legacy media, because if you truly were independent of it, you'd have nothing but contempt for not only what they say, but also for the way they say it. I don't see that at all on the Netrix.

Did you know that true and accurate facts can be used to assemble false and inaccurate narratives?

Did you know that fact check sites exist for the purpose of promoting left leaning narratives? The notion that fact checking sites exist for the altruistic purpose of checking the accuracy of facts is a pipe dream. Trust in media or fact checking sources is not part of seeking the truth.

There are those who seek the actual truth, and there are those who seek information that supports what they believe or want the truth to be. Only one of these groups will develop a perception of the political landscape that is based upon a lifestyle of searching for the truth.

Of course all of us believe we are in one of the groups that will develop a perception of the political landscape that is based upon a lifestyle of searching for the truth. Don't we.

As we can see by the posts in this thread, lefties want to defend their subjective faith in biased media sources, and none have expressed any interest in searching for the actual truth. If lefties were interested in finding the actual truth, they wouldn't be lefties.
