The Washington Post’s Jeff Stein reports that the White House has been surprised that business groups and budget hawks that it thought would be in its corner in this fight are instead siding with Republicans.

We should add here that much of the media is taking a similar approach to those outside groups. We’ve noticed television news anchors and reporters asking Democrats why they don’t just try to find a middle ground with Republicans, questioning whether Biden’s position is sustainable or asserting outright that it isn’t.

Americas debt is a National Security threat. I said it even before Trump was elected. Even Europeans leaders are stating this, it may have been the IMF too I'm not sure. When International organizations speak up like that it is a major message being sent since they generally desire U.S debt.

This would be a great opportunity for the Democrats to put new stronger regulations on the banks. Make it a part of the negotiations. Republicans really couldn't fight it with what is currently going on.

Problem is, it's not really high up on their list unlike what their words say.

It's just the same as Republicans not really being serious about the debt. It's politics. Now I am encouraged if people outside of politics are concerned about the debt finally.
