Alice was based in Phoenix AZ. Home Improvement and Martin in MI. Mash in Korea. Friends and Seinfeld in NYC. Family Ties in Ohio

Name some other shows and what state they are based in.

Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage is Texas. Someone on USMB was saying it's not a fair representation of Texans.

Remember Donald Glover's show Atlanta? It was based in Georgia. LOL.

Any shows based in your home state?

If you need some clues about Portlandia, WKRP in Cincinnati or Boston Legal, just let me know, k?

That's the kind of reply I'm looking for. There are so many shows. Where are they all based?

Breaking Bad? I don't know
Sopranos Jersey
The Wire?
Better Call Saul?
Mad Men (Probably New York?)
Cosby Show (I should know this one but forgot)
Cheers Boston
The Neighborhood
Married With Children?
Arrestive Development California?
70's Show?
Dick Van Dyke?
Bewitched?
Golden Girls Florida?
Good Times Chicago
Sanford and Son California

Lots of NY shows I didn't mention. Do you know the ones I missed? Anyone?

Lots of shows based out of NY. Or they say they are but they aren't really. Like Friends was shot in LA. I found this:

For instance, when I was watching Friends in its original run I just figured they were living and filming in New York just like the fictional characters. I then found out years later that it was filmed in LA. Since then, every time I watch a show not set in LA, I automatically assume it’s filmed there. I don’t want to spoil anything for anyone, but Cheers wasn’t filmed in Boston, Frasier wasn’t shot in Seattle, Will & Grace wasn’t filmed in New York, Seinfeld wasn’t filmed there either, The Office, King of Queens, as well as most shows, were not filmed where they were based.

New Rochelle was mentioned numerous times in the show.

New Rochelle was mentioned numerous times in the show.

the classic sitcom was set there, inspiring the fictional Rob & Laura Petrie home at 148 Bonnie Meadow Road, but the show was filmed in Hollywood, and the premise was based on creator Carl Reiner's life in New Rochelle, with no real-life shooting incidents associated with the star or show in that town.

What got me thinking about this was when I was watching Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage they said it was set in Texas.

Where is Rosanne?

Thanks to everyone who has filled in a lot of the ones I didn't know.

Think about all 50 states. Forget NY, Cali, Detroit, OH we know, CO, DC, Florida, etc... Are there any states that have never been the location of a show? Fargo is ND. Any shows about South Dakota ever?

Alaska
Alabama
Arkansas

Georgia (Designing Women is another one)

Howard Stern often talks about growing up in Roosevelt Long Island where blacks beat the shit out of him and then moving to an all white school where he learned he didn't fit in with white people either reminds me of my childhood in Detroit. Only I won most of my fights. But in Detroit I got in fights for being white and in the burbs I got in fights for not being white enough. Immigrant parents.

I think that would be a good sitcom. Only don't make it cheezy like The Neighborhood with Cedric the Entertainer. Make it more realistic like when George moved out to Archie's neighbood. Only have it be a white who moves to a black neighborhood. I think that's what The Neighborhood is but it's more gentrification if you know what I mean. There's no crime or thugs in the "Neighborhood" so it's unrealistic. I want a sitcom that touches on that shit. Explains how a crack house can exist in your Neighborhood and you don't even know it.

My brother lives in Dearborn, MI. Arab capital of the country. He has a suspecious house in his neighborhood, suspect activity happens. I think the neighborhood has called about the house but what can the cops do? No laws being broken. Who knows what's in that house.

I have a sushi place on the corner. No way they are paying their bills with the money they make. No way. No one is ever there. They don't care.

You go in and want some sushi? Sure they make a you the sushi. It's a cover business. Probably sex trafficing. I know there is also a massage parlor in the plaza that gives happy endings. If I know it so do the cops.

Indiana had One Day at a Time, Malcolm in the Middle

Maine was Murder She Wrote

Hawaii 5-0

Alaska Northern Exposure, reality has Deadliest Catch

Mississippi had Raising Hope setting.

Daniel Boone was in Kentucky

Wayward Pines was set in Idaho

Bonanza was Neveda

Yellowstone was Montana

That’s all I can think of right now.

An equally interesting question would be: is there a state that has never had a show set in it?

Delaware?
