When the New York Times covered the fact that CUAD endorsed terrorism.

The pro-Palestinian group that sparked the student encampment movement at Columbia University in response to the Israel-Hamas war is becoming more hard-line in its rhetoric, openly supporting militant groups fighting Israel and rescinding an apology it made after one of its members said the school was lucky he wasn’t out killing Zionists.

The group marked the anniversary of the Oct. 7 attack on Israel by distributing a newspaper with a headline that used Hamas’s name for it: “One Year Since Al-Aqsa Flood, Revolution Until Victory,” it read, over a picture of Hamas fighters breaching the security fence to Israel. And the group posted an essay calling the attack a “moral, military and political victory” and quoting Ismail Haniyeh, the assassinated former political leader of Hamas.

“The Palestinian resistance is moving their struggle to a new phase of escalation and it is our duty to meet them there,” the group wrote on Oct. 7 on Telegram. “It is our duty to fight for our freedom!”

June 2024:
Israel Has Killed 17,000 Terrorists in Gaza Since Start of War, IDF Says.

More than half of those killed in Gaza are Hamas terrorists.
The Gaza ministry of health has not directly counted 31,000 dead. Their own documentation says that they directly counted some 17,000 in their hospitals, and (as of March 4) over 13,000 from "trusted media sources."

Hamas' women are just as guilty!

And Hamas "health" Ministry numbers are not to be trusted.

First, even the UN itself, which initially accepted the false Hamas data, had to publish a clarification 1 that the number of women and children among those killed in Gaza was not "a majority", but about a third.

Secondly, a statistical study by an expert from the University of Pennsylvania published in the magazine 'Tablet' 2 found that the claim about the majority of women and children among the dead cannot be true and it appears that the ratio between a dead gunman and a dead gunman is in the region of 1:1, and this was by no means the only study that cast great doubt the reliability of the Palestinian reports on the number of women and children among the dead.

Thirdly, the American research institute "Washington Institute" 3, also stated that the information published by the Hamas authorities should not be trusted - it lacks credibility, and seems to be deliberately distorted to create an image of an indiscriminate massacre of the civilian population, in the study Under the title: "Gaza casualty figures have become completely unreliable."

Fourth, another and interesting analysis of the casualty data in Gaza was carried out by the data analyst Mark Zlochin and published in the British 'Telegraph' 4. This study examined the data provided by the UN about 150 UNRWA workers who were killed in the war

The most striking figure is that 62% of the UNRWA workers who were killed are men. This is despite the fact that men make up only 41% of all the agency's workers in Gaza. In fact, the chance of a man working for UNRWA being killed by the IDF is more than double the chance of a woman. It seems that indeed many UNRWA workers fought in the ranks of Hamas (and thus had a higher chance of being killed). In addition, this is further proof that the figures of the Hamas Ministry of Health (according to which women have a similar chance of being killed by the IDF) are not reliable.

In addition, Zlochin found that there is an almost perfect match between the data of the UN workers (the women) who were killed and the hospital casualty records, which allows him to estimate for himself how many Gazans have been killed since the outbreak of the war: about 18,000 (compared to Hamas's claim of 32,000 dead).

And there was also the AP news agency, which determined that the number of women and children among the dead dropped below 40%. 5

Fifth: Oh and the "10,000" missing?

Not one person found under the rubble in Gaza for four months - there are still exactly 10,000 missing (if you believe Hamas, which the UN does).
One of the many bogus statistics we've been following from Gaza is the number of missing people buried under rubble.

As we've noted, between November and May, Hamas regularly reported - and the UN regularly repeated - 7,000 missing people under the rubble in Gaza. Then, sddenly, on May 3, that number jumped to 10,000 people missing.

Does anyone have the names of these missing people? Do we know what methodology was used to estimate their numbers?

Of course not. Because Hamas made them all up. And that's good enough for the UN.

Right now, the number of supposedly missing people has remained steady at exactly 10,000 for four months. The UN keeps publishing that number, crediting the Gaza Government Media Office, which is Hamas.

So not one person has been discovered under the rubble since May? Or maybe some have been discovered, but are equaled out with the number newly buried?

The number is fiction, like all of Hamas numbers. But NGOs and the UN need to publish the highest, most absurd numbers because that gives the sense of urgency that they demand for their anti-Israel political purposes.

Not one person found under the rubble in Gaza for four months - there are still exactly 10,000 missing (if you believe Hamas, which the UN does)

Do Women and Children Really Make Up 70% of the Gaza Death Toll?
HonestReporting Staff.
November 18, 2024.

The claim that 70% of Gaza’s casualties are women and children just doesn’t add up. Why? This figure only reflects a sample of about 8,000 reported deaths, which leaves out a lot of context. Never mind that in the overall toll, Hamas doesn’t include its own combatants, and inconsistencies in counting methods, like open-source Google forms, mean these numbers may be very misleading. For real understanding, the media needs to ask harder questions.

Mahmoud Khalil Falsely Claims His Grandparents Were ‘Forcibly Removed’ from Tiberias

The mythomane Mahmoud Khalil keeps telling the media that his grandparents were “forcibly removed” from Tiberias during the 1948 war. And the media, alas, repeat his lie. Apparently checking up on his story is just too much to ask of CNN and The New York Times. More on Khalil’s fable can be found here: “Mahmoud Khalil lies that his grandparents were ‘forcibly removed’ from Tiberias in 1948. @CNN and the @NYTimes accept it as fact.” Elder of Ziyon, March 12, 2025:

Mahmoud Khalil lies that his grandparents were "forcibly removed" from Tiberias in 1948. @CNN and the @NYTimes accept it as fact.

CNN writes a backgrounder about Mahmoud Khalil, the Columbia University leader of the antisemitic CUAD group.
In an interview with CNN last spring, Khalil said he was born a Palestinian refugee in Syria, but his family is from Tiberias, an Israeli city that was once known for its mixed Jewish and Arab population.

During the Arab-Israeli War in 1948, Palestinians were forcibly removed from cities like Tiberias in what became known as “The Nakba,” or catastrophe.

The New York Times uses almost identical language:
Mr. Khalil was born and raised in Syria because his grandparents were forcibly removed from their ancestral home in Tiberias, now part of Israel, according to his lawyers’ legal filing.

Indeed, the legal brief does make that claim, employing a footnote that does not support it at all.
Mahmoud Khalil is Palestinian, but he was born and raised in Syria because his grandparents were forcibly removed from their ancestral home in Tiberias, Palestine.

It is simply not true.

Efraim Karsh summarized what happened in Tiberias in 1948:

Five months after waging his war of annihilation on the Yishuv, the Mufti's strategy had backfired in grand style. His forces, together with the ALA, had been routed, and Palestinian Arab society had been profoundly shattered, with tens of thousands of terrified and disorientated Arabs taking to the road. On April 18, another milestone in the war was passed when, after a few days of fighting, the Hagana made its first urban gain, capturing the mixed-population city of Tiberias, overlooking the Sea of Galilee, where some 6,000 Jews and about as many Arabs were living.

Ignoring pleas by the local Jewish leadership to stay put, the Arabs acting on the orders of the Nazareth National Committee and on the advice of local British commanders chose to leave Tiberias en masse and were evacuated by the British army.

Contemporaneous accounts support this.

The Jews and Arabs of Tiberias signed a treaty of non-aggression. Yet Iraqi troops, and possibly Syrians with a former Nazi officer (1948, Benny Morris, p. 199), moved in and started attacking the Jews.

The Palestine Post, April 9, 1948, describes how the Jews were forced to evacuate their homes under fire.

Eight Jews were killed and the Haganah responded. (April 11, 1948)

The Arab residents chose to flee under the advice of their leaders and the British, who helped evacuate them with their lorries. (April 21)

Benny Morris largely agrees:
The Haganah occupied key Arab areas and demanded surrender. The Jewish commanders vetoed the idea of a "truce," and the Arab notables, perhaps on their own initiative, perhaps heeding British advice, decided on an evacuation of the population. The British imposed a curfew and assembled a fleet of trucks. Then, on 18 April, escorted by British armored cars, the Arab population was trucked out in separate convoys east-ward to Jordan and westward to ALA-held Nazareth.

But two remained. (April 22)

No one was forcibly evicted. It was a decision by Arab leaders to leave (partially because of false rumors of a massacre nearby.)

But why would the media doubt what an ardent Hamas supporter says?

The lies about 1948 are echoed today. Arab propaganda and lies work, just as they did 75 years ago.

Protecting our University from the whitewashing of antisemitism.

When CUAD held a demonstration on the first day of spring classes in January, protesters barged into the class History of Modern Israel and propagated flyers that read “Crush Zionism,” depicting a boot about to stomp on the Star of David, and “Burn Zionism to the ground,” depicting the Israeli flag on fire. Many have expressed blatant support for terrorism, demonization of Israel, and dehumanization of Israelis and Jews. Open endorsements of violence, exhibited by these flyers, and the promotion of hateful rhetoric are blatantly antisemitic and have emboldened incidents of harassment and discrimination against Jewish students and faculty. These protesters are no more “critics” of Israel than the Nazis were “critics” of the Jews. When we oppose the CUAD-led protest movement, we are not trying to silence criticism of Israel; instead, we are trying to protect ourselves while defending Israel’s existence..

Many student protesters, including leaders and organizers, have made it abundantly clear that they absolutely do support terrorism. CUAD, the coalition of groups leading these protests, has been vocal about their support for U.S.-designated terrorist organizations, including Hamas—which committed the massacre of Israelis on October 7, 2023. In a statement released days after the attack, SJP [and jvp.] celebrated October 7 as a “historic moment for the Palestinians of Gaza.” As an organization, CUAD openly includes members who support “armed resistance,” which they define as integral to anti-imperialist struggle.

Furthermore, a protester displayed the Hamas insignia inside campus last year, and CUAD sponsored and hosted a “Resistance 101” event that featured an alleged affiliate of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, another U.S.-designated terrorist organization. This past October, CUAD and SJP hosted a one-year anniversary gathering, which resembled a celebration, for the October 7 massacre. Similarly, on November 7, 2024, CUAD venerated Hamas’ leader, arch-terrorist, and October 7 mastermind Yahya Sinwar in a post on their Substack. Four days later, CUAD celebrated what they called “Martyr’s Day” in place of Veterans Day. During the protest, which took place in the center of campus, students gave speeches valorizing terrorists “who resisted, whether violently or non-violently.” The list goes on and on, making it clear that support for Hamas is integral to CUAD’s movement and ideology.

Lest we forget what it means to support Hamas, the terror group’s original charter states the following: “The Day of Judgement will not come about until Moslems fight the Jews (killing the Jews), when the Jew will hide behind stones and trees. The stones and trees will say O Moslems, O Abdulla, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him.” This is not “criticism” of Israel—it is pure antisemitism. Why, then, do these Jewish faculty members defend the students who support such a movement?
