What's a technology that won't be available in 2050, but might be available in 2200?

-I think basic information teleportation will be possible by 2200. This will allow holograms like those in star wars to happen in real time on the other side of the planet. This also allows for the same to be done from your room on earth to mars.

-I think 80% of our energy needs is done by fusion. Either nuclear fusion or solar.

-A anti-matter rockets are used to travel the solar system. Fusion based is used mainly for short trips to the moon. Taking only a a day to get to the moon.

-Moon colony is created by this time mostly for tourism that can hold up to a few thousand people and maybe a small portion of this is long term(a few hundred). This won't happen by 2050 or 2075 within my mind. This colony will be connected by space fusion drive transport ships.

-A small outpost is on mars. I don't think we'll be here by 2050 at all. I think the chinese or indian flag will fly above it.

-Holographic displays are the way we enjoy entertainment! We can literally either have it on our walls or standing before us. We can also develop low end holodeck environments.

-90% of energy transport will be done by wireless transfers through the air.

-Food production is 95% robotic and farming is nearing 100% robotic.
-Anti-aging allows for you to reverse back to the prime of your life. Possible. We will see what religious assholes do.
-half all men choose male pregnancy at this point. WTF is the point of trusting another human being with the most important thing you'll have do?
-A new economic system called technosocialism will be the norm. Robotics and a.i will control production and hand the benefits to humanity. star trek.

AI will be considered citizens with equal rights. One will likely be President.

Even average people will be able to afford to have a direct brain-network connection.

We may be able to build machines at the quark level, certainly at the atomic level.

Nothing. We are gonna be dead from global warming in a matter of days now.

By that futuristic date, I kind of imagine a cross between Mad Max from Thunderdome and Planet of the Apes on acid.

IQ's will have dropped in half as things will get so bad that Devolution will be taught in schools.

Only a Marxist version, of course.

My guess is Christ will circle the globe a couple of times to make his return, only, he will say, "Na, I'll pass and sit this one out.".

I think our species culturally and biologically probably changes quite a bit in the next 175 years. It is possible we use gene therapy to allow for wombs to develop in males the same as females. Being able to have babies in both sexes will greatly strengthen our species evolutionary ability to survive.

Women at this point in history as of now don't want more then one child anyways. The population if we don't do this will probably be only a couple of billion worldwide. Probably at least half of men won't ever be able to get a women let alone reproduce within the next 50 years and god knows wtf happens in 175.

Just know that Bill Gates is on it!

The problem with Bill is though, his real passion seems to be farming, or at least owning all the farms.

Its a great topic.

At 82 years old, I would not even try to guess the tech of 2200. 200 years ago was 1820. Almost all transportation was done by horses or sailing ships. A few canals, the Chappe communication system in France was the high tech of the day. Do you suppose even the smartest men of that day could have predicted the cell phones? Devices that are the size of a small tablet that you can talk to and it talks back? Machines that literally see inside of the human body, even soft organs? In fact, I would not try to predict what 2050 will be like. A lot of people believe we are approaching a singularity about five or ten years from now. I have a very good chance of being alive to see that. I hope I make it, very curious as to what form it will take.

I love that you are so excited and curious,
I have no doubt
you will see & enjoy
many more great
new wonderful things.
I wish you well.

200 years ago was 1820. Almost all transportation was done by horses or sailing ships.

Hell, at that time Germ Theory had not even been accepted other than by a few lunatics, and bloodletting was a common cure for diseases.

There were quite a few canals, the oldest in China dating to around 400 BCE. The Xerxes Canal in Greece dates to around the same time. But most were limited by local geography and the engineering capabilities as well as the need for a large workforce.

But sailing ships are still the dominant form of transportation, moving some 90% of cargo by weight globally.

But one thing for sure, the last century and a half has seen the largest technological leap in the history of mankind. I am old enough to remember computers being the size of a room, and not very sophisticated. Then the marvels of the minicomputer that was the size of a large filing cabinet to the microcomputers of the 1970s.

My great grandmother literally moved from Missouri to Oregon in an actual covered wagon on the Oregon Trail. And she lived long enough to see the Space Shuttle regularly traveling into space.

However, at the same time I think in the last five decades our technological progression has slowed down a lot. Sure, things now are faster, smaller and cheaper than they were even three decades ago. But nothing really "new" has been developed. Just refinements on what we have had for almost a century, with very little actually "new".

Even this newfangled technology we are using now to communicate is getting close to six decades old now. It's been improved a lot, but the actual technology itself is quite old.

Cell phone service that actually works when you get 20 miles outside of town? maybe

I am of the belief that by the year 2200 some serious Nikola Tesla technology that is hidden underground under Utah will be available and Latter day Saints will be able to organize a mission to go back to the last three years of the life of Prophet Joseph Smith and they will let him know truthfully, that they have access to astonishing technology that will alter the future positively but perhaps he must admit that he made some serious errors himself and repent or they will not give him astonishing power and responsibility in that proposed new world?

[For the record I am Messianic Jewish but I spoke with a lot of LDS Elders since 2018 and I consider them to be some of the most polite and well read "Christian Theologians" that I have ever met in my sixty six years].

By the year 2100 we might NOT be able to send a team back to 1840 or so?
