What is to blame for the increase in mass shootings in recent years?

Fun fact: the marijuana used today is much stronger than the joints the Boomers use to smoke.
Sinsemilla Marijuana buds have been around for over 30 years (or more). Since there are no seeds, the plant keeps pumping THC containing resins. You get more per plant but it is not significantly stronger. Plant genetics are likely much more influential in delivering higher levels of THC in the resin.

It doesn’t have to be stronger to cause mental illness and cannaboid hypermesis.

Never seen anyone who uses marijuana have any of that. Probably more mental illness associated with alcohol.

FAKE NEWS propaganda. Back when most everyone was armed there weren't mass shootings because you would get your head blown off. Instead mass murderers used bombs and arson.

Alcohol has nothing to do with dangers associated with pot.
Most people know no one who has developed lung disease from asbestos. Does that mean asbestos is safe?
Larger percentage of people have issues with pot than have lung disease from asbestos.
Pot industry is controlling the messaging.
Pot advocates are probably the most grossly misinformed group-thinkers of all time.

We can see an increase in mass shootings in recent years, though, if we go as far back as 1982, we can see some years where the rates of mass shootings aren't any higher.

Given that mass shootings are statistical anomaly, and aren't likely to be a safety threat to the average person, I'm not particularly inclined to be concerned about them. The reality is that uninformed people who consume mass media tend to be fearful of things that are an unlikely occurrence, and often contrive unhelpful solutions to what they view as problems (such as how the mass hysteria over 9/11 motivated the Iraq War, which many, in hindsight, view as a mistake).

Regardless, if some people are concerned about the increase in mass shootings, I would like to hear intelligent opinions on why they are increasing.
Being soft on crime. That's it in a nutshell. It's stupid to let criminals run around loose and then try to keep guns out of their hands. The solution is to not let criminals run around loose.

We could eliminate drunk driving if we just eliminated all forms of driving ... it would be easy ... driving isn't even Constitutionally protected.

A lack of morality may be a good place to start at???

Democrats never call for draconian penalties for criminals using guns in crimes. They only want to pass laws that penalize lawful gun owners.

In a word, copycats.

Earlier mass shootings set a precedent so the more frequent they become, the more frequently they happen.

It’s just one of many contributing factors but it seems to me that in a society where hate and division is becoming more and more prevalent, mass killing has become the ultimate expression of anger because the people who commit them don’t possess the tools to deal with anger, resentment and life’s disappointments any other way.

In response to the OP question:
1. A certain inner-city negative culture.
2. Hate-filled rhetoric stemming from the leftists.
3. The ACLU causing the inability to commit seriously mentally ill into psychiatric institutions.
4. Soft on crime District Attorneys and Judges, funded by George Soros in elections.
