What famous convict has impacted the world the most?

Jesus was not a criminal.

Jesus was ruled a criminal by the Romans at the urgings of other liturgical figures who feared Jesus' growing influence much like the Catholic Church burned Giordano Bruno alive at the stake for daring to challenge the view by the church that Earth was the center of the universe.

His conviction makes him a criminal.

from the perspective of the religious and Roman authorities of his time, Jesus was considered a criminal; he was tried, convicted, and executed for what they saw as serious offenses like blasphemy (claiming divinity) and sedition (claiming to be "King of the Jews," a threat to Roman rule). To his followers, however, he was seen as a divine figure and his execution as an unjust act, a sacrifice, or an act of rebellion against oppressive systems, not as a true crime.

Charges Against Jesus:
  • Blasphemy: Jewish leaders accused him of blasphemy for claiming to be God's son, which was a capital offense under Jewish law.
  • Sedition/Treason: The Romans charged him with sedition, specifically for calling himself "King of the Jews," implying rebellion against Caesar, a political crime punishable by crucifixion.
Perspectives on His Status:
  • As a Criminal: The historical record shows he was legally condemned by both Jewish and Roman authorities, who saw him as a threat to their power structures.
  • As an Outlaw/Rebel: Some view him as an outlaw or freedom fighter challenging the status quo, especially since he ministered outside the temple and among the poor.
  • As a Martyr/Savior: Christians believe he was falsely accused and willingly accepted the punishment as an act of ultimate love and sacrifice, making him a divine figure, not a mere criminal.
In essence, his "criminal" status was defined by the systems he challenged, while his enduring legacy is seen as one of spiritual significance.

His conviction makes him a convict not a criminal.

The OP asks convict, not criminal. If they had asked "criminal" I wouldnt have posted the Pic I did.

He is a good one. So is Galileo. Charles Manson as well. Churchill. Ghandi

Galileo would make an excellent choice. Galileo made the Olympian mistake of perfecting the telescope, then looking at the sky with it and seeing that the goings on up there (orbits of moons, phases of planets, etc.) did not sit in accord with the Ptolemaic teachings of the Roman Catholics, then actually PUBLISHING his objective findings in print for others to see.

The Church took that as a direct threat to their authority, a big no-no when at the same time, they were trying to consolidate their hold over society.

So they burned all his books, banned them for life and put Galileo under house arrest the remainder of his days. Galileo got off light and was one lucky dude.

So in effect, that makes the Roman Catholic Church the greatest criminal in history, for they stopped and set back all scientific progress in the western world for the next 200 years and brought about the Dark Ages.

Though Walters said teachers who don't comply with the order could have their licenses revoked, the Oklahoma attorney general's office has clarified that school districts have the power to set what's taught, not state superintendents.
