I have never seen him advocate for it. In fact in the article I looked up confirm Stroud had smoked pot, he said he smoked and drank as a kid and music buff before falling in love with wilderness and survival, so I'm not even sure he still smokes it today.

But the stuff doesn't harm young people, young people harm themselves. I smoked the stuff when young and it didn't harm me, because I wasn't a jackass.

His response was a petulant, childish reference to being high on prescription during meds another director’s commentary. I stopped watching at that point.
Pot is a dangerous psychoactive drug that causes mental illness in various ways. Because you didn’t experience a problem does not make it safe. 90% of people with prolonged exposure to asbestos don’t develop lung disease. That doesn’t exactly mean asbestos is harmless.

The Founding Fathers listed the duty of the federal government in two sentences. "To provide for the common defense and to promote the general welfare". The bloody 20th century cost the lives of a lot of Americans but the federal government did pretty well as far as defense goes. Promoting the general welfare is more complex. The FF didn't mean a welfare state. Mostly it involves cheap energy and a capitalist based society.

Reefer Madness? Are you kidding? That is sooo backwards. I was saying that shit fifty years ago before I and others I know found out the hard way why that drug was illegal to begin with. Still should be. It causes mental illness. But if it’s not illegal, at the very least, warnings should be prominent and those who smoke it in public should be in jail.
So far one county has forced a settlement with the pot industry. Mental health risk warnings are now mandatory and any reference to any medicinal properties must be removed under threat of further litigation. Not a minute too soon.

The American Right would like to see a country that functions as described in the U.S. Constitution. That is to say, a Congress that limits itself to the powers granted in Article I, the President, Article II, and so on. Most of the day-to-day rules (schools, housing, criminal law) determined at the State level.

The Left wants to be ruled by a cadre of wise people in New York and Washington. The Constitution, to the Left is what lawyers refer to as "dead letter law." It is an interesting historical artifact, but not relevant to today's world. There are no borders, no values are better than any others, genders are a continuum, everything good is meted out by the State. All conflicts can be reduced to a struggle between the Oppressors and the Oppressed; the Oppressed are always right and the Oppressors must be defeated.

There are 300 million plus Americans, we all have different ambitions and aspirations.

They are also always changing as we go through life.

My ambitions and aspirations are very different now than they were when I was 20 or even 40.

The only way the Govt can help anyone meet their ambitions and aspirations is to get the fuck out of the way.

People like you that turn to the Govt to be able to meet their ambitions and aspirations are looking the wrong way.
