People don't even have access to doctors in Ontario. Why American police woukd trust or help the.dishonest Canadian ones is not a.good sign. We are hardly even an advanced nation anymore in many respects. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/london/family-doctor-walkerton-hundreds-line-up-1.7431902.
They started to arrive, and the line began to form, as early as 2 a.m.

Despite a steady snowfall and bone-chilling cold, they came to stand outside and wait their turn, hours before the doors opened at 10 a.m.

This wasn't a queue to purchase Taylor Swift concert tickets at a kiosk in downtown Toronto. This line was outside a Royal Canadian Legion office in Walkerton, Ont., and was for something much more coveted in Canada's beleaguered health-care system: A chance to get their name on the patient list for a family doctor.

I thought they all had “free healthcare” up there?

We do, it's called "dying waiting for a doctor, critical test, specialist or surgeon". We are only good at increasing bloated police apparatus budgets, from healthcare to social issues "more covert police is the answer" to all of our social problems. We spend more per capita on policing relative to your nations.spending on your military. There is a reason.you poach our best citizens.

They do have government healthcare but a serious doctor shortage with up to 22% of the population unable to get a family doctor.

22% Is being quite generous. In Ontario alone we have 100k homeless people, a major increase coming due to people who owned home but can no longer afford them. Here is the frightening part, the biggest increase coming will be retired people on a fixed income who outright own their homes but cannot afford the property tax increase!

I'm surprised. I thought you admired the American model of making health care difficult for the less wealthy.

Why do you assume there aren't wealthy people in need of a doctor in Canada? From covid to homelessness, poverty and economic downturns, Ontario has one answer: "bigger police budgets"... I cautioned America of what emulating our system would turn America into. Who will you trust? Me, or .those with a focus only on their self interest and who haven't sacrificed a thing in their lives?

Because wealthy people can buy one.

What's this?

I thought you were a fan of the cruelty of market forces and against social safety nets. That's the American model.

You have medicaid. The difference is that we fund massive police budgets, increases of 23% in some cities which are forcing elderly residents out of their homes due to property tax increases. America has a far lower cost of living and earn on average of $22k more than Canadians. Do you think I could buy health insurance to cover my health and receive care when immediately needed if I had lower costs of living and $22K.more.per year in my account? We have kids dying in ER rooms due to "free" healthcare. You see, socialized medicine isn't horrible in theory, but it is when run in a quasi, centralized police state. Seemingly the only systems interested in controlling healthcare are police states in nature. Consistency...

I'm not American. Medicaid is for the poor, and the US despises the poor so it is vastly underfunded.

You admire America. Enjoy.
I admire liberty. If you walked a mile in my shoes you would understand. Ontario is insolvent because of the police state being run here and the weak, fascist loving, con artist politiicians in this dying province.
