Absolutely prophetic movie where Evil infiltrates our mechanical and electronic devices

I find that I sleep much better on the nights when I leave the cell phone in a separate room

Every “smart device” listens and influences us.

I picked up my iPhone at 230AM the other night and saw that Siri was activated

WTF???

I like my privacy which is just one of several reasons I reside in the middle of a crop field. I didn't fall for the smart phone gimmick either, like I still use my trusty flip phone. My lifestyle is both safe & peaceful/relaxed enough that I don't need to carry a 24 hour world wide online connection/locater with me, thank God!

I haven't watched this movie, I'll have to add it to the list.

Most of it plays as a rather silly, farcical Jim Henson movie with a kid, several trolls (played by midgets) and sundry others going from one adventure in time through another, but the first 5-10 minutes of the movie are actually its best part.

That's actually not that far from the truth. Why do you think they call them "smart?" They are designed to do our thinking for us.
As devices become smarter, people become dumber.
Social media and Donald Trump have already achieved that.

I know. I hate it. I refuse to have a "smart" phone and when choosing a new appliance, stay as far away as possible from the "smart" ones.

The company that provides my town with power decided they're installing "smart" meters on the properties of all their customers. I called the company and asked about their opt-out policies, and the woman I spoke to lied and said there is no opting out in my state, by law. I spoke to a congressional rep in my state who had attempted to submit a bill that would make it necessary for the utility to have the customer's consent, but it got no where because it was clumsily worded, and the rep withdrew it.. He said what that woman with the company said was a total lie, about it being state law that we can't opt out.

I settled with sending a registered letter and an email to the company stating that my consent for the installation of the new meter was WITHHELD. I hope I don't have to get into a big legal battle for anything to be accomplished.

I wish I had the liquid funds to install solar on my home. I thinnk my home's solar potential is very good. I could take a HELOC loan, I suppose, if I wanted to be saddled with payments. I have no debt, as it is, and don't want any.

I wonder if the new administration will open an avenue to subsidize solar. Probably not, since solar is more a thing of the green scam.

It's evil.

Same. Well, except the smartphone part. I knew what that was all about, long ago. Make a device so useful and ubiquitous that folks feel that they MUST own one, and then put all the tools the government needs to monitor folks in them. Cameras, MICs, and GPS, along with the metadata gathering.

I inherited a smart TV, it is on a wall switch and always off when not in use. Everyone should power down any tech they are not in use of.

I had someone refer me to this movie, which came out in the 90s. It was known even then, what this is all about, and where the establishment was intentionally taking the population.

I have had quite a few conversations with many about Siri listening to everything we say. I usually just point out the fact that how can Siri possibly know you are saying, "Hey Siri", unless she is listening 24/7 in order to hear if you said it? Amazon has pretty much already confessed that Alexa listens to you 24/7 as well.

I only started using it recently because my wife HATES me checking my phone while driving and said I could use Siri to send texts and make calls.

It was very disconcerting to see the little animated Siri circle when I picked the phone up at 230AM

Big brother has been and is watching us more and more. I don't know if there is any way to stop that. And that's not even taking into account the explosion of AI.
